A hp download has been running for two days on my laptop. I have talked to a person in two different contries and can not get any help. Could not understand either of them. My e-mail is hadinsquam@embarqmail, can you please help me with this problem?

If you just want to stop the process - press Control + Alt + Delete at the same time. This will bring up the Task Manager. Under Applications highlight the HP application and then click on End Task. You will probably be prompted to end the session now, select yes.

If you mean that you have been "downloading" for for 2 days, then simply close the internet connection.

Stop the download. restart your computer and then try to download it again. your system hung up.

How do I reformat a compaq armada e500 lap top


Use the Restoration Disk.

Perform a Repair if you are going to keep existing personal information.
(i.e., Documents you have created or downloaded, Photos, Music, and programs you have downloaded, or installed)

Repair is a Non-Destructive Installation.

Perform a Full Installation if you do not plan on keeping personal information.
Full Installation is a Destructive Installation.

If you do not have the Restoration Disk for your Compaq Armada E500, you can obtain it from HP Support. (HP owns Compaq)

In the USA the Restoration Disk is free.
The shipping and handling is not.

$17 for a 5 to 7 day ship, $24 for a 2 to 3 day ship.

If you format the harddrive the wrong way, you will wipe off the Windows operating system.
You'll have a blank harddrive.

My hp pavillion laptop came with with windows vista installed, no disc. it is now corrupted. i do not have a recovery disc. Can i download a repair disc from your website?

However you can contact HP Support, and obtain the Restoration disk.

In the USA for example,

1) The Restoration disk is free. The shipping and handling is not.
$17 for a 5 to 7 day ship, $24 for a 2 to 3 day ship.
Call 1-800-474-6836 to speak to a representative. (24 hours a day, 7 days a week)

Have the Product Number written down from the white Service Tag, on the bottom of the laptop, to give to the representative.

Laptop on, insert the Restoration disk in the optical drive.

When asked perform a;

1) Non-Destructive Installation: (Repair)
For repairing the basic Windows files. Saves the personal information you have on the laptop.

2) Destructive Installation: (Full Installation)
Deletes all personal information saved.

Takes the computer back to day 1 when it came from the factory.

I have to get windows 7 and up grade to run a music program . when i got this laptop they said the up grade was free. How do get new os and install it?


I think I'd ask the person that told you that you get a free Upgrade. You need to talk to them or contact HP directly.

I need help with my compaq laptop i had to wipe the drive and reinstall windows xp and now i have none of the wireless card driversi mean i have none of the drivers that i can tell none for networking...


Did this laptop originally come with Vista installed, and you downgraded to XP?
No?
Did you install XP from a full Installation disk you bought?
The reason I ask this, is it shows Windows Vista as the original operating system.

I found, as you did that there is no LAN driver available from HP Support, except for Windows Vista. (Broadcom Wireless)

I suggest this:

Contact HP.
I would call them. Much nicer speaking to a real person, and faster than emailing them.

I just called the above 1-800 number, to verify it was still a good working number, and to talk to tech support myself, about what is involved for you to obtain this disk, and if said disk was available for THIS laptop using the Windows XP operating system.

You'll have to call tech support yourself, so that you can give them THE serial number. At that time, the tech will verify whether drivers are available for LAN, for the Compaq Presario F572US laptop. Then a Restoration Disk will be offered as an option.

Tell them you need the Restoration Disk for your Compaq Presario F572US laptop, running Windows XP.

Tell them the Serial Number, (s/n in the white Service Tag), and the Operating System, (Windows XP)

(Sometimes you have to remind them of the operating system, to be sure there isn't mis-communication, and they send you a Restoration Disk for Vista)

Hp pavilion turns on but i have a black screen. can't get on internet to download anything to help can you help?


The HP model you are talking about has graphic card issues. Usually when you see a black screen when the laptop turns on, it indicates a graphic issue.

If you search in the HP forums about black screens on start up it shows a bad graphic card.

If the laptop is still under warranty contact their support techs online with a different computer and let them know whats going on and they should have you send it to them for a replacement card.

Use WPA security(some devices won't work unless WPA security)

Mixed b and g mode

use channels 1, 6 or 11. Most devices work better on these channels

Save and log out restart everything, Routers and computers. Now connect.

Logitech quick cam


All seems fine on my laptop , sound ,volume ,ect . the problem is i have a picture of myself on my PC and the person i am talking to but they have no picture of me ,,,i dont know what is wrong . Can any one help . Laptop is a Touchmate running via wireless router .
