I am having a problem with my game configuration program in control
panel. When I try to configure my controller the crosshair (+) that shows for
center position jumps and bounces.Everything configures but whan I play a
game with it whatever is controlled by the d pad jumps around making it very
difficult to make my selections.I have not found a fix for this problem
anywhere on the net.I had another contoller and had the same problem.I
thought it was that particular controller but it does the same thing with my
new one.
If anyone knows what the problem is or has any suggestions I would greatly
appreciate it.
Thanks alot

Boot to Safemode and in the Control Panel remove all controllers and
also if there is ant software installed for the old device remove
that.
Then whilst still in Safemode go into the Device Manager and remove
ALL gaming devices and the human interface devices and re--boot.
Back up the registry 1st,free WRP program off here,
http://www.d-sheppard.f2s.com/ free.htm
And or know about the scanreg/restore option to reset the system after
system changes,

If a problem is less than 5 days old in win98 then restart F8
bootup/Command prompt only Dos or restart in Msdos mode and type
scanreg/restore and try an older reg backup, however you may have to
re-install some programs and user changes if they were installed
after this date. You can type win or exit from Msdos mode to get back
to windows.

The other gamepad I had was an Interact MakoPad and it plugged into the
standard gameport. Both act the same in configuration

Its a common problem with analogue joysticks, I have an analogue
joystick and does exactly the same thing. In some games such as Final
Fantasy it makes character control impossible as the characters are
twitching like as if they've gone mental! I had to remove the joystick
to play it.
I think the best solution is to switch to USB joysticks which do not
suffer from twitching...
