The machine (Aspire 5050) starts and works normally, but there is a sound (noise) coming out. It seems that it is a problem in the fans. It begins when the machine turn on and continues until shut down.

You cud remove the fan, and replace it or u cud try dusting it first without opening it up...and if that doesnt work dust it after opening it up and try fixing it...use replacement as the last option... and most fans make noises! trust me...

Laptop recently started to make noise on start up, feels and sounds like it's coming from the area below the keyboard in the lower left part, it's an acer aspire 5570-2067. it makes noise for a while, then...

Def sounds like the fan , from where you say the sound is coming from . normally the fan should be able to be cleaned the panned holding the fan in the left hand corner . clean the fan with compressed air , or a paint brush . if this fails then you need a new fan .

The cooling fan in my Acer Aspire laptop (bought 1 year ago) stopped working. Can it be replaced or is it part of the motherboard?

As stated it can be replaced. Might be the pits in finding the replacement fan, though.

Let's take a look at an Acer Aspire 5520 series laptop, as an example,

http://www.insidemylaptop.com/take-apart-acer-aspire-5520-laptop/

Scroll down until you come to the third photo.

Getting to the Cooling Fan in the Acer Aspire 5050 series Notebook PC's, requires a lot more disassembly, however.

The Acer Aspire 5050-3242 Notebook PC, in the category heading, is part of the Acer Aspire 5050 series of Notebook PC's.

This is the Service Manual for the Acer Aspire 5050 series of Notebook PC's,

http://www.tim.id.au/blog/tims-laptop-service-manuals/#toc-acer

Go to the second Aspire heading.
The one that begins with Aspire 1200.

Now go down to the 5th line, and scroll across to > 5050.
Left-click on 5050.

This is a PDF file.
The computer you are using now has Adobe Reader on it, which uses PDF files.

[ Although I would recommend upgrading to Adobe Reader 9, if it isn't on your computer ]

After you click on the file > 5050, you won't see anything happening for up to 30 seconds.

Most of the time the first page pops up within 10 seconds, and it requires additional time to fully download the file.

Suggest you let the file download all the way, before looking through it.
Watch the Download Progress bar.

You can save this file to your computer.
This way you can burn a copy to CD for safekeeping, and easy access anytime you wish.

You can also delete from your computer then, to save Harddrive space.
If you do not know how, and wish to, simply post in a Comment.

Grinding noise when fan spins fast

Try cleaning out the fans before going to the bother of replacing it. There maybe some debris stuck in it causing the strange noise. A can of compressed air often removes most of the dust and debris but on occassion it is necessary to open the case and manually clean the fan.

Generally if its grinding and clicking noises it will be the hard drive the fans will cause more a whirr than a grind

Acer Aspire 5050 window is not working properly

probably has a corrupt file system, usually trying a simple restart when pressing f8 will bring you to the windows options menu, you can select safe mode with networking, then go to start menu at the bottom, and go to the run option and go ahead and type cmd when the black window comes up type chkdsk c: and press enter it will begin to scan the computer theirs also the option of going to the my computer and going to the c: right clicking on it and selecting properties then tools tab. check the disk for errors is the same as chkdsk good luck.

Operating system not found, disk corrupt, strange clicking noise.

Sounds like you have a bad hard drive. Try replacing the hard drive and restoring the operating system.

Bad mb

Any motherboard that needs a tweak like yours to work is generally not safe and can cause possible electric shock and or other problems along the way..

Get that motherboard replaced as soon as possible and you will be much happier :)

No display

Hi Sunmoon, Do you hear any boot up noises from the laptop? Does it appear to be working as normal, but without a picture - sometimes you may know this because you hear the XP / Vista logon sound. It could be a backlight or inverter problem. If you look side on to the screen you might see a faint image. Moncapitaan
