Just noticed you posted the same problem in another question but gave more detail in the other.... It appears to be a 4-ton unit... do you have gauges? You will not be able to solve a cooling problem without gauges... You MUST know the pressures to begin to diagnose.

What does it mean e5in air conditioner 48000 btu tlc

That's a 4 ton AC unit that should cool a 2000-2400 square foot home in most climates.

My air conditioner no longer cools. The fan works but there is no cooling.

How old is it, what is the climate like in your area, what is the approximate square foot area of your home, is it the only unit in your home, and what is it's condition (on 24/7, on only during summer, on only during day, etc.)?

Also, are there any other issue present? Perhaps an error code on the LED display

It would be best if you could take a picture of the data plate, usually on the right-hand side of the unit.

More than likely this is an issue of needing to add freon. Have you ever had to do this?

Air is blowing cold but wont keep up temp

If the system is actually doing everything it can, which I do occasionally run into, then it's time to start looking at other factors like the heat loads. Number one problem I run into is either attic insulation or attic ventilation. One thing that really sticks out in your post though is the square footage and tonnage. Now, to be honest, what the square footage is from the home owner to actual living space always varies. Home owners always get the square footage like a realtor, but includes the garage and other unconditioned rooms. What your looking for is the square footage of only the rooms that have a vent. It is 400cfm per ton, 1 cfm per square foot. So if you have a 2.5 ton system, it is capable of doing 1000 square feet of living space. You said 1500 square feet, which would need a 3.5 to 4 ton system. Hope this helps and gets you to cooler days!

It is 106 degrees outside, I have a a/c unit which is cooling at 75 degrees in a 1180 square foot townhouse apartment, this seems like the unit is doing all it can with the excessive heat, is it

Unfortunately, 7000 Btu's will not cool 1180 sq ft. At best, it's rated for 400 sq ft, as it's only rated as a "Room Air Conditioner". To cool 1180 square feet, you'll need at least 30,000 Btu's (like in Central Air Conditioning) or 4 more window units spread out throughout the condo. It takes more Btu's to cool, than it does to heat.

I really sorry. I wish I had better news for you. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Air condition unit of sufficient size??

You currently own a 2.5 ton AC Unit
500 square feet equals a ton of cooling/ you need a 3.5 ton unit.
If your home is well insulated, good windows and doors and pretty good
shade that covers your house, then I can see a 3ton unit cooling your
house.

Thats another 6,000 btus you do not have and that is a best case for a
energy effcient home.

Refrigerator runs, cools (freezer too), then stops cooling for a few days (freezer stays somewhat cool), then starts cooling again. Help...:(

In these new fangled ice boxs is what you call adaptive defrost control. Instead of the old tried and true defrost timer, brainiacs have decided to use artificial intelligence to determine defrost.
The basic pattern of adaptive defrost is:
COOLING,PRE-CHILL,DEFROST,DWELL,and POST-DWELL.
Hey I ain't making this up. The ADC (adaptive defrost control) Counts the number of times the doors are opened, the total compressor run time, and the length of time the defrost heaters were on during the last defrost. This method supposedly enables the adc to work nice in all kinds of conditions, whether hot and humid or cold and frigid climates. COOLING Mode will remain for an indefinite time or until defrost is determined by the micro-processor. When all systems are go for defrost the adc makes the jump to light speed by going into PRE-CHILL, this brings down the temps in the freezer to off set the defrost operation so that the food temp does not suffer dramatic temp rises. Pretty cool ain't it? If the ice box is in pre chill and the door gets opened then a DEFROST HOLD OFF will jump in and not do a defrost for several hours. If the door is continually opened at the end of 16 hours the adc is gonna defrost that ice box anyway. The defrost period varies but is a maximum time of 45 minutes including when the DWELL kicks in. Dwell is the length of time the ice box stays off AFTER the heater is terminated.
Then The POST DWELL will kick in. The post dwell will fire up the compressor and condenser fan but the inside fans will not run allowing the coils inside to cool down before them fans kick in and she jumps back into Cooling mode. I bet you would like to have a copy of GE's adc repair manual wouldn't you?
