Question about Sony PlayStation 2 Slimline Console
My ps2 won't turn on properly. It was working fine last week, but when i went to turn it on this morning, it didn't work. The red light is on when i plug it in, so i know there's nothing wrong with the BRAND NEW ac adapter i just bought. But when i push the power button, the green light goes on for about a second, and then goes back to red. I'm getting very frustrated and now i'm out $21.96 for the new ac adapter, not to mention the $80 for the system itself. It's only a few months old, this shouldn't be happening. Please help me.
I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM BUT MY PS2 WOULDNT EVEN GO TO THE RED LIGHT BUT i PUT A 10 POUND WEIGHT ON IT THEN IT WORKED A GAIN UNTIL ONE DAY MY DAD OPENED IT UP AND MELTD SOME STUFF TOGETHER THEN i DIDNT EVEN NEED THE WEIGHT ANYMORE!

I had the exact same problem with mine. It may be a combo of one or two events: First if the console is no longer under warranty CAREFULLY take it apart by removing the screws on the under side and check to make sure that your power button is not damaged or that the ribbon cable is not loose. @nd: check the rear of the console to see if the ac adaptor is pushed in all the way and check to see if the female end is not losse. If the female part is loose the easiest way to fix that is to 1st find out what position the cord must be in for it to stay on and then put the ps2 on top of your tv or someplace where the unit will not be bumped. then use something the hold the cord in that particular position.
If the unit is still under warranty do yourself a favor and send it back to Sony and get them to fix it.
Hope this helps
