USB compatability on my SCL 810 samsung video camera?

Is there any way whatsoever, to transfer video from my SCL 810 samsung video camera onto the computer? Or am I just screwed, and need to buy a new one? Is there any sort of separate cord I could buy for it to transfer video?

I'm not sure if it has a firewire cable, but I don't think it does. I don't think it would have anywhere to plug into on the camera.

Use the firewire cable and firewire card in your PC - Q-Tec or similar IEEE 1394 - has software and drivers included
good luck

As your model is analogue if I understand correctly, my personal preference would be to purchase a Mini DV camcorder with AV in sockets (including S-Video) and DV out (Firewire). You have analogue tapes that you wish to convert to digital after which you can edit them on your computer. With a Mini DV camcorder and the correct sockets as mentioned above you can do analogue to digital converting outside the computer rather than inside.

This is a Firewire cable, also known as DV or IEEE 1394. Sony call it i.Link. It is not compatible with USB and you cannot get a lead to connect it to a USB port. There are converter/adapters that are supposed to allow Firewire to connect to USB but many forum posts say they do NOT work for video transfer. Unfortunately, most Mini-DV cameras will not transfer video by USB cable, even when they have a USB connection (it is usually only used for still pictures).

Most PCs have a USB port, but no Firewire port. Macs often have a Firewire port but may not have USB. If you had a desktop PC, you could fit an add-on Firewire interface card to the expansion bus. This will come with a driver for the card.

I have a Samsung Mini-DV, and do transfers with it to the one computer I have that has a Firewire port. It is the only thing I use that computer for, and the reason I haven't thrown it out.

I had a similar problem with a Cannon Optura PI and had to send it in. It was better, but I still have problems on occasion. If your intent is to transfer all the tapes to media, I would suggest purchasing Toshiba's DVD Video Recorder/Video Cassette Recorder. Model: DVR620KU. I use a VHS-C Cassette Adapter to play my VHS-C tapes in and the dubbed them to a DVD. Works great. Unfortunately, there is no 8mm/VHS Adapters, since 8mm, Hi8, miniDV are different formats with different technical characteristics than VHS. These formats were never developed with the intention to be mechanically compatible with past or current VHS technology. Your best bet would to borrow a HI-8 Camcorder and then dub your tapes to DVD's using the Toshiba machine. Here is a link to the Toshiba machine. http://www.testfreaks.com/dvd-players-recorders/toshiba-dvr620/
Good luck

I need software for the Samsung SCL770 - to transfer video to DVD. Where can I get it?

Although this camera model did have USB connection&its specific software. But since your camcorder is an analog ones, you actually don't need any software for video transfer.

Instead, what you need is a VIDEO CAPTURE CARD which is used to transfer the analog video signal into digital video file for further work onto your PC.It should be already available at any computer store in the world.

Getting footage from a cassette onto a mac

Sorry but the only way to transfer the tape is to be able to play it in a compatible camcorder or player. Then use one of the analog to digital converters "available on the internet" to transfer it to a PC.
Best bet is to ask some friends if they have an old camcorder that will be able to play that video cassette for you.
Sidenote: If the cassette is fairly new it might already be recorded in digital format, in which case you only need a compatible camcorder or player and a USB or Firewire cable to import it into your Mac

Hope this helps, don't forget to vote if the answers you seek are helpful.

Canon ZR950 video transfer problem

Greetings reubnick,

Unfortunately, the Canon Z950 only offers transfer to your pc via firewire (Firewire/IEEE 1394 DV Terminal). Therefore your computer would need to have a firewire port.

One other option is to utilize a standalone system to plug your camera in to transfer video. Here an example of one unit: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8470923&productCategoryId=abcat0504007&type=product&tab=1&id=1184768699303#productdetail

I hope this helps!
