My picture was distorted by a speaker magnet

A few days ago my cats were scratching my friend's guitar amp. not thinking, i placed the amp on a table next to my tv. when i removed the amp, there was a green blob in the upper left corner of my screen. the only temp. solution i could find is placing a magnet on the back of the TV. when i move it, the green spot returns. is there a way i can fix this?

Well , yes , you have to purchase a DEGAUSSING COIL to take care of this problem and know how to use it (which its very easy) available at electronic stores (try EBAY) What you do is you place the DEGAUSSING COIL in front of the color spot and do circular motions while slowly stepping away from it . that should take care of that.

Marshall MB4410, with low volume gives no real volume,

Guitar amps have preamp sections (think unpowered audio mixer) and power amp sections (Crown rack-mount amp). An excellent way to isolate audio problems if amp is still producing audio is to check the preamp out (line out). Preamp output distorted = preamp failure. Connect MP3 player to "Power Amp In"...sound distorted = power amp failure. In your case the latter is the case as your "line out" is clean. Also test each speaker for clear sound as speaker cone damage from being overpowered is fairly common. At 300w. I'll assume the failure was not from cranking the volume to loud but a shorted speaker or speaker wiring could zap the power amp in an instant.

Peavey speakers making no sound

Try connecting them to another amplifier...you can use the speaker output of a guitar amp as a quick test. If the amp (and mixer) check OK, it sounds like you are about to become good friends with your local speaker reconing shop.

Remember...Distorted Audio Can Kill Speakers even at low volumes. It happens because sine waves become square waves. Google it for additional information.

Having just purchased a new 3amp MicroCrush on ebay I am disappointed that it is impossible to get a 'clean' sound. I have tried every combination of switch settings on the amp and my Gretsch 5122...

You are using a Gretsch with this? This is a tiny amp useful for ONLY low levels as a practice amp. If you turn up the gain the unit will distort as the tiny speaker just can't handle high levels. An appropriate level would be if *********** could tolerate sitting alongside it. For the hum situation... does it hum with NOTHING plugged in? If so, probably the wrong adapter is being used. If it doesn't, then your guitar is probably picking up magnetic interference... major source of that type interference is "wall warts" power adapters. The only solution is to keep distance from the source to your guitar. Poor quality guitar cables can let in hum as well.

Hotrod amp is distorting on the clean channel once it goes past 3,is it a speaker problem or is it tubes?

to rule out the speaker, you could try one of 2 things.

1. remove the speaker from the cabinent and gently push the diaphram in 1/2 an inch to 3/4 an inch, as far as it will gently go- BE GENTLE. the speaker should recess and return to normal position smoothly, without any scratching or rubbing, or internal resistance., the only resistance should be from the paper cone itself, not internal to the speaker. if there is any rubbing or scratching from the inside (inside the area surrounded by the magnet), or any changes in resistance (not smoothly moving) as the speaker goes in or out, then the voice coil is damaged.

2. find another speaker of suitable wattage and ohmage, and disconnect the hot rod's internal speaker, and hook the replacement speaker up in the internal speakers place. a speaker of 50-100 watts should be suitable, and it will probably need to be 8 ohms- a standard bookshelf speaker may be suitable if it is a suitable wattage and ohmage rating (stamped on the back of the hot rod's speaker magnet and/or on the back of the external speaker/cabinent as "8ω",) do not, and again, do not, under any circumstance disconnect or connect a speaker while the amp is on, or even plugged in. touching the positive and negative speaker leads together, even briefly, while the amp is powered will fry the amplifier circuit, and you will smell it!!!

On low volume using the clean channel the sound is great but as soon as you get to about three or more the sound gets a bit distorted, the amp is the fender hot rod deluxe, ithort i may had blown the...

try a differrent speaker of suitable wattage and ohmage (displayed with a number next to a ? symbol on the back of the speaker),

or

remove the original amp speaker and gently push in and out on it, checking for uneven resistance or scratching. the speaker should retract and return smoothly, without any scratchiness or uneven resistance from within, and if there is any of this scratchiness or uneven resistance from within, the speaker is likely damaged from too much wattage or distortion.

Wires to main speaker are, Yellow & Blue witch one is the positive ?. Also I am getting distortion from the clean channel even at low volume, the speaker is Peavey 1230 model 8 ohms.

Yellow should be the positive. Try plugging in and reversing. The louder of the two is the one in phase and the correct wiring. If the speaker is pushing out when playing , it is in phase and correct also.
The distortion problem could be a speaker going out. It may not be totally blown, but may be verging.
Holding your hand out as wide as you can push against the speaker lightly. If there is a rubbing or scratching sound, the speaker could be damaged. If it moves freely, and there is no scratching its okay.
Another possibility is the clean channel may have a channel volume set to high. Make sure the clean channel volume is set lower than the master volume otherwise you can get distortion on that channel too.
Good Luck.

Crate bass amp bt220 limit led is flashing with the volume only at half

You can reach the limiting IRRESPECTIVE of where the volume control is set when you have a guitar or other source that has HIGH output.

Guitars that have battery in them with internal amplifiers are an example of a high output guitar. Plain inductive pickups may require the volume control to be set at say 70% to reach limiting.

Please NOTE that the volume control is NOT linear, but is an "audio taper".

Limiting means you are probably driving it too hard. Many learn the hard way when speakers and thee power amp fail.

When the cone is driven too far beyond the pole pieces of the magnet, then the IMPEDANCE of the speaker becomes relatively low and can damage the power amp. The limiter tries to prevent this by sensing the current and or voltage and will back off the gain internally. This causes distortion when it happens.

Playback distortion

Good day sir, distortion can be caused by several factors, 1. overdriven audio source, try tuning down the volume to half. 2. the speakers are defective due to driver's coil scratching the magnet. need to replace the speakers, better swap first any good known speakers. hope this may help. if you may have any more questions, feel free to ask again. thanks

Static Noise from guitar amp.

I take it you have made sure that both the cable to the distortion box from the guitar and the cable to the amp are both good. From the description you give, it sounds like there is no signal getting to the pedal. If the cable is good, then the next likely suspect would be the input jack on the fuzz box. Try wiggling it a little with the guitar cable in place to see if it is loose. Some input jacks are unbelievably cheap and flimsy. A crackling sound (static like) is almost always a bad connection. If it was the output jack, I would think that the guitar signal would come through a least a little bit, but you might want to try wiggling that one, too, if the input jack isn't the culprit.

Another possibility to check is the battery, but this doesn't seem as likely. Some effects units devour batteries, especially units that use 9V batteries. I have a multi effect pedal that kills a 9V in about an hour.
