I have an iPaq 3955 and a C-Pen 600C handheld (pen-shaped) scanner. If I load Peacemaker on my iPaq the two devices will connect via IR and transfer files to the C-Pen immediately. However, if I click on "Infrared" program and try and receive any files from the C-pen to the iPaq, the iPaq picks up the other device and says, "Establishing connection with CPen...", but it never completes the connection or transfer.
I've tried cleaning the two device IR covers, reducing ambient light, trying different physical orientations of the devices, etc. Any recommendations?
Thanks for your assistance.

Have you tried not starting the IR program on the PPC first, but simply initiating the file send from the C-Pen and waiting for the PPC to prompt you to accept the file?
BTW: Did you know that we have a Pocket PC users group in Orange Co.? We used to meet at one of PacifiCare's buildings in Costa Mesa, but starting next month, we will be meeting at Microsoft's offices in Irvine. Feel free to email me if you want more information.

David, thanks for your suggestions. I will try and make one of the local user group meetings. I'll email you separately on that.
On the IR connection problem, there isn't really a way to initiate the file send from the C-Pen; it just constantly seeks other IR (or cable connection) sources, and if it connects it's supposed to trigger a response on the other device. When connected with the desktop it pulls up the C-Pen program, which allows browsing on the C-Pen, transfering of files, cut and pasting, editing, etc. I've looked on the C-Pen site (made by C Technologies), and there is no install program required for a PPC. In the help files on the website it just states that it should happen automatically.
If I don't start the IR program on the PPC first, nothing happens on either side. If I turn on the "infrared" program, the C-Pen immediately indicates that it's first seeking another device, then finds and connects with the other device, but the connection never gets completed on the PPC side. The Infrared program in the PPC indicates that it's "Establishing connection with CPen..." but never goes any further.
Any other recs?
Rob

At this point I don't have a suggestion since I don't have one of the C-Pens myself.
Is this a personal quest, or are you working on a development project? If you are testing the pen for a business application, you might want to also try the Ericsson Chatpen which uses Bluetooth instead of IrDA. Unfortunately, I don't have one of those yet either, but I expect one soon.
