Question about PC Desktops

I can not connect to the internet using my e machine model number w2888. I need to download the software for the modem before it will allow me to make a connections. Are there any solutions where I can go to re-download the modem?

first of all make sure that you need driver or there is any other problem.
if i am not wrong then your modem is ......56K ITU v.92-ready Fax/Modem............

I'm having trouble connecting my emachine to a cable modem.


Turn off the computer before you begin making connections. Make sure the cable modem is up and running with your service before you attempt to make the computer connection.

  • 2 Connect the coaxial cable from the wall outlet into the back of the cable modem where it is marked "Cable" and has the male coaxial connection. Use an extension coaxial cable if necessary to reach the modem.
  • 3 Connect the CAT 5 networking cable from the cable modem where it is marked "PC" (or something similar) and connect the other end into the back of your computer where the networking card is. These connections are RJ-45 connections that look like oversized telephone jacks. If you also have telephone service through your cable provider, you will want to connect the telephone line into the port on the back of the cable modem marked "Telephone."
  • 4 Connect the power cord into the back of the cable modem and plug it into a power strip with power surge protection. The modem should power on by itself once it is plugged in. It will cycle through a power on self test and then make the connection to your cable Internet provider. Once the lights indicating power and cable are green, you are ready for Step 5. It could take several minutes for the modem to connect to your service provider.
  • 5 Turn on the computer and test out your Internet connection. Should your computer still have a problem connecting to the web you may need to reset your cable modem. You will find a small recessed button the size of the head of a ballpoint pen either on the back or front of the modem. This button will be marked "Reset." Pushing it once will allow the modem to reboot and reset all its connections. Turn off the computer before resetting the modem to allow the computer to flush all the networking connections out of its memory as well.


  • If the power goes out and your connection is not restored when it comes back on, always reboot the devices in this order: cable modem first, computer second. Keep the cable modem where it can get proper ventilation. Call your cable Internet provider if you get frequent interruptions to your cable Internet service and rebooting the modem does not solve the problem.

    I want to know If I have A samsung mobile then how can I connect this device as A modem in the pc


    S u can use ur samsung mob phone as a modem and connect internet in ur pc. use usb bluetooth dongle or usb data cable to connect ur phone to pc. either use pc suite or bluetooth software(Bluesolil) for connecting internet. Samsung e1410, samsung e250 etc are the models compatible

    My e machine crashed i reinstall win xp now it will not connect to the internet using dsl device manager said that modem was working also there are no com ports showing


    HI jar5. Did you install the ethernet driver after the Windows reinstallation? The DSL modem uses 2 interfaces. The USB and the Ethernet. YOu can use the modem´s Driver to use it thru the USB or you can use another computer go to the emachines´website and under support or drivers select your model and download the drivers because probably you also dont have sound, etc. I hope this helps.     If you dont have a manufacturer disk driver cd its difficult
    you will need to download it in a cybercafe and load it on the machine
    Use driverguide.com to download the driver.

    when you had the internet installed, did you install the modem software for the modem? without the modem software, the modem cannot find the pc. if the modem connects directly to the pc, or even through a wired/wireless router, the modem software is a requirement. (i just went through all this myself w/ att dsl). if you have, or add, a router, that software will also need to be installed for those on the network to connect to the internet as well.

    Well i had just bought a lynksys router from my friend with no software cd so right now i am trying to download the software online so when i switch my cox modem with the linksys modem i want the software...


    You should be able to get any software that you need from LinkSys.com but I have a couple of quick questions first:

    1. Is the LinkSys unit you just purchased a router or modem?

    If the unit is a router, you are still going to need a Cox compatible modem. If the unit is a modem, you will still need a router to complete the network setup unless LinkSys makes a combination cable router/modem, and I haven't been able to research one.

    2. If it is a modem, is it a cable modem and, if it is, is it Cox compatible?

    According to the Cox Web Site, the only models of LinkSys modems that are currently compatible with the Cox High Speed Cable Internet Service are:

    BEFCMU10 v3
    BEFCMU10 v4
    WCG200
    WCG200 v2
    CM100

    In this particular case, you may need to contact LinkSys and/or your Internet Service Provider. In most cases, they will not only tell you exactly what type of equipment you need, they will also talk you through setting up the network once you have the equipment - usually at no charge.
