Question about Kodak EasyShare DX4530 Digital Camera

Kodak Easy Share DX 4530 won't hold charge any more.

My Easy Share DX4530 digital camera won't hold charge any more. Do the rechargeable batteries need to be replaced or could there be more internal problems? It charges, I can take a few pictures, and then the screen goes black and won't take any pictures. I also tried regular AA's but the camera does the same thing before I can take one picture.
If I need a new one is there anyplace that takes older cameras in on trade.
We have absolutely loved this camera and are sad that it is doing this.

dx4530 will not charge on dock i have the right battery my moms dx4530 charges fine on my dock what could go wrong with charging system on camera it works fine otherwise

The only way my camera works is when it's on the dock. I can take as many pictures as I want. I have removed the battery and put in a Kodac battery the one it recomends and I still need to use the dock to take a picture. It looks like it has charged all the way but when I take it off the dock and turn it on nothing happens. Put it back on the charger and it looks to start charging again.

Yes rechargeables need replacing from time to time (after a few hundred charges) or every couple of years.
You can use standard rechargeables but these wont charge on the dock as there is a little switch in the battery bay which the kodak pack presses.
Standard AAs ar'nt recommended for digital cameras but you should get at least a few shots from a new set of alkalines (maybe not if they are cheapo no Alkaline)

There could be another problem with the camera but if you like the camera its probably worth giving a new pack a try.
If I remember rightly (but check as I don't have a 4530 to hand) the battery you want is a KAA2HR and are available on ebay cheaply if you cant find a low cost one locally

If I can be of further help drop me a line

Best of luck

I have read the user guide and it says NEVER use any other batteries than Kodak. I usually don't go for the "selling" tactics however, this isn't a cheap piece of equipment. I would replace with the rechargeable Lithium batteries from KODAK! Best of luck. Jeanne

My Kodak DX 4530 says my 4GB SDHC Card needs to be formatted but it won't do it

The DX4530 works with MMC and SD cards. While your SDHC card fits into the slot, it is electronically incompatible and will not work. You need to use MMC or SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

Have a easyshare dx 4530 camera. looking for dock 11 or equivilant?

Since the Kodak EasyShare Camera Dock 2 is no longer available, you can use a KODAK Ni-MH Rapid Battery Charger K4500-PC-C+1 instead.
Item number is 1717610.
You can also use any brand of battery or charger as long as it is Ni-MH.

My Kodak EasyShare DX4530 camera dock not charging batteries.

There was an issue with the 4000 series and the NiCd batteries I remember that had to do with the contacts in the camera.  The charging circuit is in the camera so you have to make sure that the battery contacts are clean, both on the battery and in the camera.

My easy share CX4530 won't

Mine did that and all it was is the door that holds you batteries in gets weak over time. If you hold or squeeze the door closed and it does not happen then you have found you problem. Clean the contacts and try to "bend" them outward to get a cleaner and tighter connection.

Rechargable Battery Problem on Kodak DX 4530

Inside the battery compartment, on the same side as the battery cover hinge, you will see a small white mechanism. As I understand it, this is a microswitch which recognises when rechargeable batterys are installed. I suspect this may have been damaged. If so, you will need a rock-steady hand and brilliant eyesight to repair it. Even dismantling the camera is a challenge.
