Have replaced computer. Motherboard dead on old one. Is there any practical way I can get pictures and such from old computer. It will not power up. Thanks

You should be able to tak the hard drive out of the old one and put it in the new one as a secondary drive. There is a good chance, though, that the drive won't fit. If it doesn't, you'll need something like this.

What's happening? Do you get an unrecognized USB device error and is the yellow LED on the front flashing on and off rapidly? If so, your drive could be locked due to a firmware issue on the hard drive itself. I had this problem and followed the very detailed instructions on the internet to unlock the drive with ZERO data loss. I followed that by updating the firmware. If this sounds like your problem, google search "unbrick seagate drive" and you'll find plenty of information on how to fix the problem.

I recently installed a new larger, hard drive, but numerous problems have developed with it. Can I reinstall the old hard drive and pick up where I left off?

When you install a new hard drive you need to install also a software to make your drive working. The new install hard drive does now contain a copy of windows software.

Have a stop era screen will not allow to boot machine up

Hi:
Most stop error screens are not easily fixed, unless you have recently done something, like upgraded memory. If so, undo any hardware changes , like put the old memory back in. Most likely you have a corrupt windows operating system, or a failing hard drive. Your Dell might have a hard drive diagnostics utility built into the bios. You can hit your Del key on boot up,and see if it is an option.

I bought a HP M8430F and would like to install a 2nd hard drive

By set up differently you mean and ATA or SATA difference? That shoudll not matter as long as  the windows are alread on the first harddrive of the HP  Since your drive that you want to move is the second drive and does not contain the operating syastem you should be able to just phisically move the drive from one machine to the other. The new computer will see and install the drive as "FOund ne hardware" and asign it a letter. It will not disturb the data.
