Nascar 3- G-Force 2 MX400 Problem

By Perkins - usenet poster

I am having problems running my N3 since I installed
G-Force 2 MX onto my machine. It will not recognize anything I do to try to
get into the program, just flashes me back to desktop. Very frustrating for
me because I basically bought this card for Nascar 3. Thought it would help
with my frame rates.?.!
It worked on my system before, which had a  nvidiaTNT 16MB AGP video card,
with Monster 2 VooDoo 3Dfx piggybacked. Replaced the two video cards for the
G-Force.
Thought I remembered something about this awhile ago, but not sure.
Sure could use some help.
Please!!!

Thank You in advance,

Frank Jr

No N3 was the first Papyrus product to also offer built-in D3d support.  I
have used both settings since many of the old ICR2 tracks we raced on with
the TPTCC touring car leagues don't work in d3d.  (unless somebody unpacks
each track and changes a bunch of mip files to a newer format.)

Delete the file n3.ini from the Nascar 3 folder. Next time, it will enter
the game with software render and you will be able to change to D3D.

If you have other configurations in n3.ini, better keep a copy of it so you
can move them (this is a text file) to the new one.

Wasn't N3 3dfx Voodoo/Rendition accelerated only?

If i am right, then the G-Force 2 will be no help,
since it is opengl/d3d accelerated only.

At least you are unable to start N3 in 3dfx-mode.

Have you removed all the 3Dfx stuff? (drivers etc)
You were probably running N3 in 3Dfx mode, that won't work on your  MX,
there is probably a config file in the N3 folder somewhere.
You'll have to change the game setting to software there, start up the game,
and choose D3d from the game menu.
Since this is a papy game the file might be callled core.ini but somebody
who actually has the game will soon put me right on that.
Just look at all the .ini or .cfg files in the N3 folder and things will
become clearer i hope......
