Good Afternoon.

Has the headset been dropped, or kept in a hot car? The battery could also be going out too, but unlikely if its only 3 months old. Is the headset near the phone? They do have a 10-20 ft range in a perfect condition. But it works best in my tests only a few feet away. As I roam away from the device, it causes static.

Also, is this everywhere you go, or just certain areas?
The reason I ask, if you are near a Wireless network, it could be conflicting. Bluetooth communicates on a 2.4 ghz band. Wireless Network runs on the following: 2.4, 3.6 and 5 GHz frequency

Try removing the device from you phone, and re-connecting it.

Ok here is the answer. There H700 have a small foam windscreen inside over the microphone that over time block the sound. The answer is to carefully open the unit and remove the obstruction and clean residue from the microphone and it will work like new. here is a link to pictures and instructions. http://www.geocities.com/jconkwright/H700fix.html

Static-y h700

Since it is only a week old I would take it back where you bought it and tell them it is full of static and get a new one or different one.

This model is notorious for having static problems. You could also do an RMA with motorola since your unit has a 1 year warranty.

hope that helps!

If your running an HTC phone (If have an HTC Hermes) it has Windows Mobile 5 or 6 running the software for the phone.
I made a modification to the windows registry settings.

You will first need to download a registry-changing software:
http://www.breaksoft.com/Blog/Utilities/2005/1/Mobile_Registry_Editor.aspx

Then follow these steps to increase your bluetooth output:

To achieve better Stereo sound change the following values, found the the following keys.
I was able to do this in about 5 minutes.

[HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Bluetooth/A2DP/Settings]
Add new dword, Value name=BitPool; Value data=48 (Decimal)
Modify, Value name=UseJointStereo; Value data=0 (Decimal, Originally 1)

For BitPool:
Microsoft suggests the following bitpool values for optimal buffer sizes.
30 - Low audio quality
40 - Medium audio quality
48 - High audio quality
58 - Excellent audio quality
Chose one you like. I think 48 is good enough.

For UseJointStereo: use 0 instead of 1, then you got the real stereo.
If you run into any problems, please contact me.

To put the H700 in pairing mode, have the boom closed and hold down the call button. The light should turn purple, then open the boom. Connect to your phone.

H700 problem with Blackberry 7130

It just so happens that I almost bought this headset, but decided not to after reading some reviews. Apparently when paired with the blackberry, the headset doesn't like to function too well. It has a severe problem with distance. Even clothing in the way of the phone and headset can cause static. I've heard some reviewers say they cannot even have the phone and headset on opposite sides of their body because it perfers to have 'line of sight' with the phone. Do some tests by connecting the headset with the phone while they are very close together, almost touching. Once it's initialized, try to keep your phone in a pocket/on your belt on the same side of your body as the phone. I have not heard why these two products work so terribly together, but the problem does not seem to point to the headset or the blackberry, but the combination of the two.
