Question about Saeco Talea Giro Espresso Machine

1 Answer

Espresso is dark and rich at first; then shifts to water

I just got the machine today, and it seems to work well until the espresso that at first pours into the cup looking very dark and "correct" changes about half way through the process to very watery. It continues to get lighter until the press stops. Obviously, the final product tastes watery and weak. What's happening? Am I doing something incorrectly?

It took me a long time to convince my husband to buy a coffee machine but in the end I purchased the Saeco Talea Giro Express Machine. I received it yesterday and studied the manual thoroughly and confident I could operate it I set to work to make my husband a coffee and show him that it was a good investment. Instead like the previous comment my coffees are coming out very weak, is there anything I can do to make them stronger? And how do I get the machine to put less water, that is diluting the coffee less? Love to hear from you coffee connisseurs, thanks Natalie.

This is suppsed to happen, every espresso machine out there on the market does this.

All the taste for the coffe comes in the first couple of seconds and after that it gets less and less.
So the problem is not that it gets lighter and lighter, but that you dont get enough taste in the start of the brewing.

And this can be caused by alot of things.
Bad beans?
Not set the grinding to fine?
it will not heat enought and thereby not get enough taste.
etc.

As a retired Electronics Tech, I have never worked on an Expresso machine but have worked on my own WestBend. Problem you indicate seems to show that the contact points are worn on the unit and need to be replaced.

First You need to check the inlet water valve, I think the plunger is not working (sealing) properly and 2nd. Check the water level probe make sure is clean. If you don't feel comfortable doing this take it to a pro.

Grinds too long coffee still weak

You can adjust the grind, finer will give you stronger coffee. Think water through sand vs. pebbles. There are also settings you can find in your owners manual for adjusting the length and strength of your "pull".
Try Julius Meinl espresso roast, it's dark, rich and sweet. Definitely my favortie.

Change the grind in Saeco Vienna Deluxe coffee maker

Hello kgspco.
You will need to work the 'dial knob' untill it free's it-self.

The higher the number the Coarse(r) the grind.
If you want rich - dark - strong coffee, set number between 4 - 8.
(if you can free it up - keep trying
