Try launching the scan from the computer. You may not have the monitor program running properly or you may need to reinstall the full feature software from http://support.lexmark.com/index?page=recommendedDownloads&locale=EN&productCode=LEXMARK_X7350&segment=DOWNLOAD&userlocale=EN_US#1 (select your OS). Uninstall and then reinstall; this will cure problems with the driver/software missing dlls.
Try a new data cable and a different port. Try a direct connection if you use a USB hub or print server. (Two-way communication is needed for the scanner to work.)
