DWA-552 has a 32 bit PCI Interface. I believe it will work with your SONY VGCRA840G, as most desktops have a 32 bit PCI slots.

I have a D-Link DIR-825 router and a D-link WUA-2340 adapter. The adapter is plugged into a windows xp desktop. My problem is that the adapter is only running at 54mbps when the box clearly says...

The D-Link WUA-2340 is an 802.11g adapter. This means that 54mbps is the fastest that it can run. It is backward compatible with the 802.11b standard which runs at 11mbps. However, it is not forward compatible to 802.11n. You need to get the DWA series from D-Link (I'm guessing you have a preference for D-Link). This should run your D-Link DIR-825 at 100mbps +.

Computer doesn"t start keep rebooting

Try moving the card to a different slot.
Swap slots with another card if all the slots are full.
If this doesn't work, post a reply / add a comment to this post and I'll dig deeper for more options, but in most cases like this, using a different slot or swapping slots with another card will most often fix the issue.

Hi,

Good day. In regards to your issue, if the d-link support agent told you already that its not compatible with your hp motherboard, you might consider getting a new wireless adapter. Better you can contact d-link again and ask them about a model of wireless adapter that will work fine with your HP computer. Its better to replace your wireless adapter than putting your entire computer in jeopardy. Conflicting hardware might cause instability and might crash your entire system

Hope this help you a bit. Have a great day and thanks for using Fixya. :)

The wireless access point or router you are connection to probably does not support n and you wireless card is backward compatable so it will still be able to connect to the wireless access point/router.
