Bought the A730 for my daughter for Christmas. AA batteries die each time she uses it. Will easily exceed the cost of the camera soon at this rate! Please help! Is this normal or should I try sending it back to GE?

Is there a battery life indicator in canon sd700is

Hi,

I had a look at a review of the camera and also could not find the battery life indicator.
Even with all the icons present on the screen there is no battery icon.
It thus looks if the SD700 lacks a battery indicator.

Kind regards!!

I have a Canon Powershot A590. The battery life is HORRIBLE! Is this a Camera problem? They do not last long at All.

Try getting some quality rechargable NiMH batteries and see if they last longer for you. The ones that I use in my A590 are rated at 2500 mah and last quite a while so far. I wouldn't recommend batteries rated at less than 2000 mah for this camera.

Best regards,
Bob

Get the CHDK plug-in for the S3; it will then show you battery life as a percent. Note - you'll need access to an SD card reader to install it.

Battery life expectancy

Olympus Ni-MH batteries will last approximately 60 to 80 images and can be recharged about 500 times. The Olympus CR-V3 long-life lithium batteries provide power up to 2 times that of Ni-MH batteries. The CR-V3 long-life lithium batteries are NOT rechargeable.

Extend the life of my batteries

Using the flash and LCD monitor affects the rate at which the batteries will drain. The rate at which pictures are taken will also affect battery life. When taking pictures sequentially the battery does not have as much time to recover between each shot. To help to extend the life of your battery, the flash, LCD monitor, and sequential shooting should only be used only as necessary.

Battery life expectancy

The battery life on alkaline batteries vary according to manufacturer and power rating. Alkaline Batteries can provide up to 100 shots with typical usage. The Olympus CR-V3 long-life lithium batteries (LB-01) will provide approximately 500 shots. The Olympus Ni-MH batteries (B-01 4PE) would provide approximately 250 shots per charge and they can be recharged 300 to 500 times.

What causes bad battery life?

Bad battery life has a number of major causes: The primary causes are: Selection of the wrong battery chemistry or type for the camera used Extremely power-intensive use of the camera A damaged battery (probably the least common cause of bad battery life) The way in which the camera is used is at least as important as the battery chemistry selection in influencing battery life. The highest power-usage modes in any digital camera will be video and live preview. Thus, heavy users of these modes will see the shortest battery life. Other significant power consumers are the strobe, zoom motor, fill flash, and the image LCD display. For longer battery life, use these modes only as necessary.
