Gateway lt2032u no display

Did you reboot the laptop to see if the display would show on the external monitor?

The video will showon most systems when you reboot without you having to do anything. Some systemswill require you to hit the FN (Function key) + F1 thru F12. Hold downthe FN key then hit the correct key for displaying on the monitor (F1 thruF12). The correct key will normally have CRT/LCD on it or it will havethe icon of a display.

If after the steps above the video does not show on either monitor, then your Video Card inside the computer is bad.

Blank screen

Did the laptop boot up all the way except the screen is blank? Do you hear fans running and the hard drive spinning, lights on? If you think it booted except the screen is blank try the steps below.

Shine a flashlight on the dark screen to see if you barely see the icons on the desktop. If so, then the LCD Inverter is bad.

Plug in an external monitor and see if the display shows up on it. It can be any kind of monitor even the old big fat crt monitors as long as it has a vga cable to connect to your computer's vga port. If so that proves your video card is ok. The video will show on most systems when you reboot without you having to do anything. Some systems will require you to hit the FN (Function key) + F1 thru F12. Hold down the FN key then hit the correct key for displaying on the monitor (F1 thru F12). The correct key will normally have CRT/LCD on it or it will have the icon of a display.

If you see no icons by shinning a flash light and the external monitor works, then your screen is bad. If you see no icons by shinning the flash light and nothing shows on the external monitor, then most likely your video card is bad.

I dropped my dell notebook on the floor. The screen is 80% frozen however when I turn it off and reboot I can tell from the little corner I can see that the computer function but the screen stays stuck....

Try connecting an external monitor to your laptop via the 15 pin VGA connector located on the left side of the laptop. If the laptop display is normal on the external monitor then most likely your LCD (liquid crystal display) panel is damaged and needs to be replaced. The spider web effect is due to cracked display panel.

Dell M2300 issues: After several times of a freezed screen & rebooted the computer while either on the internet or working with "Autocad Inventor", it's finally gave up on me, on the last...

Isolate where the problem is: it could be the LCD display or the graphics circuit on the main board. Connect the VGA output of the laptop to an external monitor - one that you know is good. From the function keys, activate the VGA output of the laptop - it's suppose to switch between the LCD display or to the external monitor. Switch it to the external monitor. If the external monitor works, then you have a problem with the LCD display of the laptop.

I have an Acer Apsire 3000 laptop with

Hello dj50551,
This may help.
Give this a try.
Turn the computer completely off, hook up the external monitor, and reboot. After bootup(and still not seeing the other monitor) right click in the middle of your LAPTOP screen, select Properties, this will bring up the Display Properties window. Go to the Settings tab(far right). Please ensure that there are two monitors that appear. You should see a number 1 and number 2. Click on #1, this is your laptop screen, and ensure that there are tick marks next to:
Use this Device as the primary monitor. And Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor.

Then Click on #2 and ensure that there IS NOT a tick mark in the first box but that there IS one in the second.
Please reply if you require further assistance. It may be that that monitor is not compatible with your laptop. I would also suggest that you visit the manufacturers site of the laptop ond make sure you have all the latest video and chipset drivers.
