Canon NP7130F does not close the top cover. I was told that a small part holding the drum broke. A service tech said it is not worth fixing. Is it true? This is the first time this good little copier requires repair.Thank you for your opinion.

How to clean the magenta toner sensor on a canon imagerunner c5255 copier

Step 1Turn off and unplug your Canon copier. Put on a pair of latex or work gloves to keep toner and debris off of your hands. Cover a table, desk or other surface with three to four sheets of newspaper to protect the surface from spilled toner Step 2Open your copier's toner cartridge door on the front or top of the device and remove the toner cartridge. The cartridge contains the drum as part of its unit. Lay a flannel cloth onto the newspaper-covered table, desk or other surface and then shake the toner cartridge gently above the cloth to coat the cloth lightly with ton
Place the cartridge upside down on the newspaper-covered surface and open the drum's shutter door, which contains hinges. Rotate the drum using the spindle on the side and wipe the drum's surface with the toner-covered flannel cloth to remove any dust, dirt and caked-on debris. The drum only rotates in one direction. Work quickly so as not to expose the drum to light. Artificial and natural light can damage the drum's surfac Step 4Continue rotating and wiping the drum's surface until it is free of any debris and dirt. Close the drum's shutter door and reinstall the cartridge back in your Canon copier.

Am machine drum damaged(pit marks)my machine model cannon6570i

Step1 Put on your latex gloves to protect the drum from skin oils. Cover a firm, stable working surface with a few sheets of clean newspaper to prevent spreading toner dust over your work area.
Step2
Disconnect your Canon copier from its power source and allow it to cool down for several hours if it has been used recently. Locate the access door to your toner cartridge and drum, typically located on the front or side panel depending on your specific model.
Step3 Remove the toner cartridge from its holding tray by lifting from both sides and pulling it up gently. Gently shake the cartridge to remove caked on dust, then place it on top of the newspaper sheets. Using your vacuum's hose attachment, clean away any toner dust from the cartridge's holding tray.
Step4
Lift the hinged door behind the holding tray to expose the copier's drum. Turn the spindle to the side of the door to rotate the drum. Apply a microfiber cloth to the outside of the drum as it rotates to clean away toner dust. Continue until the drum is as clean as possible.
Step5
Close the hinged door and replace the cartridge in its holding tray, ensuring that it is oriented the same way as when you removed it.
Step6
Reconnect your copier to the power source and make a test copy to ensure proper function.

Open the top cover and insert a toner cartridge. message shows when i try to print but top cover already closed properly

check on the left hand side of where the top cover opens , in the inside there is a clip along with a senor
check that it si not stuck . if that doesn't work, open the top cover hold in the cancel button or the bigger play button ( differs printer to printer ) or both for approx 10 - 20 seconds , you will see all the lights flash remove the toner , re-insert the toner & close the top cover . This will reset the drum unit & the printer status. Alternativly switch the printer off ( with top cover closed ) hold in one or both buttons and turn it on for approx 10 - 20 seconds again , you will again see all the lights flash, Your printer will reset its status And clear its page count .
also try open the back cover close the front then the back , press cancel or play button twice there after.

( this is a common diagnostic procedure with small laser printers )\

Please post back if this doent solve the issue

Thanx

Imagerunner 1310 drum change

To change the drum you have to slide the plattened cover to the left, like you do when removing a paper jam, open the top cover, you will see a handle that you pull to remove the defeloping and drum unit, remove the drum and def unit.
The drum is attached by two clips on top of def unit, unlock the drum from the def by releasing that clips, slide te drum protecktion plate to the rear and remove the drum.insert the new drum by reversing this steps.
If your image of your copies is not bad you can remove the waste toner in the drum unit before replacing it.On top of the drum there are two plugs open them and remove the waste toner, make sure you remove all of the waste toner. Then that message will go away.
