When you turn your laptop on, watch the messages that flash at the top and bottom of the screen. There should be a message that says 'press F# (where # is a number between 1 and 12) to enter setup'. You only have a couple seconds to press this F key in order to enter setup, so do it quickly.

Good Luck!

When booting my dell optiplex GX270 desktop,"alert! system battery low pops out, press F1 to continue or F2 for setup utility" and the screen colour chances. please, what do i do?

i think this is the problem about your cmos battery so first you change your cmos battery contained in your lap top.it is attached with your laptop motherboard.

How do I reset my computer to factory settings? I have a compaq presario S6000CL

The easiest way is to reset everything in the BIOS setup to DEFAULT values.

The best way is to remove the CMOS backup battery on the motherboard for a few minutes and then re-insert it: this will wipe out all user BIOS setup in the CMOS memory.

Hello i have a compaq presario 5000 when i turn

This is a compicated problem. First when it boots enter setup by pressing the F10. Once you are in set up reset all settings to default. Save changes and exit CMOS. If that does not help the situation have someone make you a boot disk, reenter setup and put the floppy as the first boot drive and then CDrom. Insert the boot disk, follow the instructions to boot. Once you are up and running try to roll back the computer to the last recovery point that worked. If that does not work you may need to see a local repair tech.

MY LAPTOP(hp compaq presario v2000)BEEPS TWICE AND DISPLAYS PRESS F1 TO RESUME OR F2 TO SETUP!pls help

Hi, and welcome to FixYa
The computer may display a prompt to press F1/F2 or any other key to enter setup each time the computer boots as a reminder on how to enter CMOS. However, if the computer asks to press F1/F2 (or another key) to enter setup and does not continue, this issue can be caused by any of the below possibilities.
1. New hardware has been recently installed.
2. Error or confliction with settings in CMOS.
3. CMOS battery is bad or failing.
Solution:
New hardware has been recently installed
If new hardware has been recently installed into the computer, it is likely that you are receiving the prompt "Press F1 or F2 to enter setup" because CMOS needs to verify that the new detected hardware is properly being setup in CMOS.

Error or confliction with settings in CMOS
If no new hardware has been added to the computer or the new hardware has been removed and you continue to receive the error, it is likely that there is an error or confliction with the CMOS. Press the key requested to enter setup and verify that all settings are correct. If everything appears to be correct try resetting the CMOS values to the defaults and/or Reset Configuration Data. Additional information about how to do this can be found on document CH000976.
If all settings appear to be correct, save changes and exit CMOS setup. If the error continues to appear, enter setup again and restore all CMOS values to default.
· See our CMOS page for additional help and information with the CMOS.
· Additional information about getting into the CMOS / BIOS setup can be found on document CH000192.
CMOS battery is bad or failing
If you continue to receive the prompt to enter setup each time the computer boots up and you have attempted to follow the above suggestions, it is also possible that the CMOS battery may be bad or failing. Generally; when this occurs, the computer is not holding the time or date correctly. If this is occurring it is recommended that the CMOS battery be replaced.

Unresponsive Keyboard -- HELP!

usb keyboard if new, needs to be installed first by windows but this is automatic and only needs a short time, just wait. But if your computer does not recognize it, usb support for keyboard should be enabled in the BIOS. restart your computer and press delete for cmos setup, if you can't see a setup form, maybe it is not delete to be press, try F1 or F2 until you can see the screen with the options to change CMOS setup.
