A white blank screen? That sounds like the virus changed your display settings. Click Ctrl+Alt+Del to get to the task manager. Press and hold the Ctrl key plus the Alt Key then hit the Del key. When the task manager opens up Click File at the upper left corner of the window then select New Task RUN. When the create New Task Window opens type: explorer.exe and hit OK. See if it starts populating your desktop icons and shows the start menu and task bar. If so, the virus changed your settings.
To change your display background click Start/Control Panel and look for Display or Appearance and Personalization. When it opens select the Desktop tab and change the desktop background. Hopefully the white will go away.
You may have to get into Safe Mode to do the above if the virus disabled the Task Manager.

reboot it in safe mode and if it shows desktop restart once again
booting in safemode hold F8 while restarting your machine choose start window in safe mode and hit enter
best of luck
if problem wont solve let me know please i will tell you another way
the icons and the bar(task bar) at the bottom of the screen are enabled by the explorer.exe file
it starts automatically but in your case it is not starting
to start it when your computer starts and comes at the desktop, press alt+ctrl+delete button at the same time to bring up the task manager
when you do this a task manager shows up in a window
in task manager window click on file, it will be located on the top left portion on task manager
now click on "new task(run)"
this opens another window, in that window type "explorer" without the quotes "" and press enter this will bring you icons and task bar at the bottom of the screen
If the Windows loading progress bar appears after turning ON the Computer and the Computer goes to the blank screen then perform the under given steps.
Press "CTRL+Shift+ESC" key combination to open the Task Manager window. Next, click on the "Applications" tab and click on the "New Task...." tab located on the bottom of the window. Then type "explorer.exe" and click "OK".
This would bring you back the Desktop icons and the taskbar.
- Open Task Manager
- Terminate Explorer.exe (may of hung on start up) on the Processes Tab
- Back on the Applications Tab, click on New Task and type explorer after about a minute does the start menu and windows bar come back?
- If so download all the latest virus defs for your AV software and also the latest (and free) spybot search and destroy 1.6.2 - do a sweep for both spyware and software and remove all and reboot your PC.
This should help you - if not joy I would boot into Safe Mode and look at a system restore point. Also look for any unusual processes that are running in Task Manager - or ones you don't recognize since you last looked at them - if one looks dodgy, do a google search on it to see if its harmful and should be killed.
hi mikkk, try the following. 1. right click on your desktop (blank screen ). go to arrange icons by--> check show desktop icons. this might fix the issue. 2. or in the task manager. go to file--> new task....Run "explorer.exe" ( type it without the inverted comas). this wud fix the issue.
