Question about GE (PSS26MSRSS) Side by Side Refrigerator

GE Arctica (PSS26NGSB) ice and water dispenser

I have a GE Profile Arctica (PSS26NGSB) refrigerator. And have been having problems with the water and ice dispenser since I have the bought the thing. The water only dispenses some of the time. And as for the ice, it had stopped dispensing cubed ice and only dispensed crushed (even when cubed ice was selected), but now it has completed stopped dispensing any ice at all.
When I had my warranty, GE replaced the entire ice and water dispenser system, and it worked fine for a while and now it has gone back to same problems: water some of the time and ice never.
However, the refrigerator continues to make ice and fill with water and all of the lights on the panel still light up when selected.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!! :[ (I need water and ice!!!)

    same problem here, The water works only sometimes and when I go to get cubed or crushed ice, it sounds like something is shutting down and the light goes off. I will call that number for sure to see what they can do. My unit is only 2.5 years old.

    Me Too!!!!!!! The first time that this happened I replaced the whole Ice mechanism. It worked for about 6 months and now it is happening again. Random water and random Ice. Now nothing!!!!! Argh!

    I have the exact same part replaced and the problem is on an off again as well -- so frustrating! I've had my fridge for 3 years now and last night it decided that the fridge side didn't want to cool as well as the water & ice not dispensing. Had to get ice and put all my food in coolers until I could call repair service this morning. Now the fridge & ice/water are working again. HELP! This wasn't exactly the cheapest fridge so I'm very disappointed so far. Otherwise, when its working I love it!

Need to call ge at 1800-386-1215 some of these sxs have a door insulation issue that they will either send replacement doors to an authorized service company to exchange at no cost to you or offer a rebate for a newer model. yours might be in this group
have your model and serial number out of the ref located in the refrigerator section, about 4-5 inches from the celing down the right side and call and see

If your model is the PSS25MGMWW and the water dispenser is not workingthe problem is most likely the=> WR57X10026 Water Inlet Valve Most times the ice dispenser and water to the ice maker will continue to work properly while the half of the water control valve will fail and stop water to the dispenser or ice maker. You have two sides to the water control valve and it is most likely the dispenser side of your WR57X10051 Dual Water Inlet Valve I will be here should you have more questions, Thanks Sea Breeze

Hello. Hollow cubes is caused when there is not enough water going into the ice cube molds. That said, since you have too much water going into the water dispenser I would suspect that the valve needs to be cleaned or possibly replaced. Joe

GE Profile Arctica ice dispenser switch quits working


I came across this problem recently , and found the main control board was bad . Check this site first , to see if it can be covered under warranty .

GE Profile Arctica PSS25SGNA BS Icemaker is not working seems to be filling with water but no ice.


The water dispenser and ice maker side run separate sides of the water control valve. Fill ice maker with tap water and let it freeze. If it dumps the ice then does not refill then the water control valve is the problem. I will be back soon with a photo and some links, Thanks, Sea Breeze

I have a GE arctica profile - the water dispensing "bucket" somehow filled with water and froze over. Water spilled over and froze on other parts of the ice maker. Tried taking it out to thaw it -...


This is very possibly due to a defective water control valve and a fill tube being frozen over due to the constant flow of water to the ice maker when the water valve should be off. You will need to tun off the water supply before the valve behind the refrigerator before replacing the valve.
