DS Lite's top screen has horizontal black lines

The lines appeared when I was trying to fix a problem with my Lite's L-button. I had a look, cleared any dust off, and closed it up. When I turn it on, there are black lines allover the screen. Or at least, that''s what it looks like. It's affecting the bottom screen too, as the bottom screen's flickering a little too, but thescreen's still clear. The odd thing is, closing the Lite and opening it will cause the top screen to become clear for a split second, and then gets covered with lines. It's not a major problem (most of my games use either the bottom screen or aren't too heavily burdened but the top screen) but I want to know if it's fixable, and how much it'll cost to fix. Any help appreciated.

My daughter's DS Lite has small vertical blue lines on the top screen. They are not consistent and as she puts it they can "heal up" or be in different positions on different days????????

I found a REALLY easy solution! the most likley problem is that there is dust in the GBA/DS game card slot! it corrupts the connectors (i dont want 2 explain how it gets into the system) so step one: wrap a small peice of tissue around the stylus(make sure DS is turned ON)
step two: LIGHTLY go inside the GBA/DS slot with the tissue wrapped stylus.
step three: shut down DS system and turn on again
problem solved! hope this helps.

You have probably just disrupted the connector for the top screen, this would explain the black lines. This would also affect the bottom screen if two connectors were wrongly aligned causing power to flow through the wrong connectors. The screen being ok for a couple of seconds after you open the lid i cannot be sure why it does that but when i acquired a broken Ds the screen did that but then I replaced the ribbon cable and it was fine. You can buy the parts you would need (screwdriver and ribbon cable) from:

Hope this helps

Blue and red lines on my action replay for DS lite

First turn your DS off.
While the DS is off, press A and B at the same time. While still holding, turn the DS on. Then when the Nintendo DS logo appears, press Start and Select at the same time, aswell as A and B. Hold those 4 buttons down for about 20-30 seconds. Then while STILL holding down those 4 buttons, turn the DS off. Turn it back on with no buttons pushed.

My DS lite isn't detecting game cards. It worked fine last time I used it. I've tried blowing to clear any dust (couldn't see any but I thought I'd give it a try) It's just under a year old

I would say that the cartridge dock has been damaged. The metal strips on the cartridge have to line up perfectly with similar strips in the unit in order to transfer the program data. If it becomes unaligned, or one of the strips inside the unit has been damaged, it can cause a short or a connection failure.

Repair would most likely exceed the value of the unit, or come pretty close to it. The best use of your money, if it is beyond its warranty period, would be to buy another.

You can also review troubleshooting for your system by checking out this link. It may answer a lot of your questions.

Action Replay DS

All you need to do is, when you have those blue and red lines, means the codes are corrupted. To fix this, you will have to reset the Action Replay. To do that, you need to do this:

1. Hold down the A and B buttons before turning the console on.
2. Turn the Ds on while still holding the A and B, but when the health and safety screen comes up, hold down Start and Select too, so you now have 4 buttons held down.
3. Keep holding all 4 down until the main screen of the Action Replay appears. You'll have no games, which is no worry now because you can hook it up to the computer and update your AR with all the games again.

Hope this helps!
