I accidentally stepped on my closed laptop when it was on the floor. When I opened it, the screen was cracked on the upper left corner and the cracked area does not work. What will be the best way to get it fixed?

Can laptop screen spider crack without being dropped?

Hello,

One of a few things may have happened. When the laptop was closed last, there may have been something on the keyboard (pen, toothpick etc) that could have caused the crack - The laptop may have received an impact that she was not aware of - the crack may have been pre-existing (cracked slightly a while ago) and finally gave way. Here's something else I have encountered......When she opens and closes the laptop, does she usually lift the lcd from one corner only, both corners at the same time, or from the centre? If you open a laptop by one corner of the lcd only, you are flexing the lcd every time, and this can weaken it and eventually cause a crack. Also, if you try to open the laptop from one corner, and the lid is still latched, this flexes the lcd as well. Anyhow, Unless your warranty will cover it, go to www.laptopscreens.com
and order a new lcd panel. I have ordered from this site a few times now, and their prices are by far the best I have ever seen ($80 average). Order the screen, and if you're not comfortable installing it yourself, take it to a good service shop and have it done.

Hope this helps!

1.Click once on the speaker icon in the lower right corner of the laptop screen on the task bar to open the volume control.
2.Click and hold the slider control with the left mouse button or the left button on the touch pad, then drag the control higher to increase the volume on the built-in speakers.
3.Click the "Start" or Microsoft flag button in the lower left corner to access the Dell's Control Panel. Click twice on the Control Panel.
4.Click "Hardware and Sound" then click "Adjust System Volume" under the "Sound" listings.
5.Click and drag the slider control to adjust the sound level, then click the "X" box in the upper right corner to close the application.

How do I increae AOL home page screen size to full screen and have it open that size?.I have AOL sampler on a notebook. Thank you,,Chris

Hello lknylandc, Usually to set the opening size of the Internet Explorer once opened you drag the upper left corner of the page in the upper left corner of the screen , and the bottom right in the bottom right of your screen. once this is done you close Internet Explorer at the next opening it should normally open the size it had when you closed it
Hope this helped Pierre

Cracked screen, dented top

I would say just the screen. You may have to bend the metal a little on the edges if needed.

Grid surrounding cursor and desktop icons

You have accidentally enabled "Universal Access"
Open System Preferences from either the dock or the pull down menu under the Apple in the upper left hand corner of your screen.

In System Preferences the 4th line down should have icons for "System" one of those icons (usually the right most) will be a blue circle with a person in it. This is "Universal Access"

Open Universal access and turn voice over and zoom off.
