Sounds like the laser needs to be cleaned. This can be done at home and if you are comfortable around electronics then I can post instructions that will help you along the way.
If not, then any TV repair shop will do it fairly cheaply.
For the record, those home laser cleaning kits with the cd and cleaning fluid you can buy are a waste of time and money.

Before you goto all this though, unplug the DVD player from the wall for a few seconds then plug it back in, some just need a reboot similar to a computer.
Hope that helps.

Sorry for the late reply, The email servers are not sending info that replies have been added.

It will depend on the model of your particular TV/DVD

Post that up and I can search for the manual and should be able to give you much clearer instructions.

If this is one of those TV's with a built in DVD player, you may want to drop it to your local TV guys, they are normally fairly cheap and quick at getting this type of thing turned around.

Trying to record to disc from VHS After recirding 8 copies, it now reads "Unknown disc, Please check disc" This is a Go-Video VR3845 Unit.

Hello,

I answered this question previously and the solution remains the same;

how long have you been using the player and has it ever accept blank DVD-R discs in the past.

The problem might be as a result of weak laser (lens) or the blank discs inserted might not be compatible with player.

When the laser(lens) of a player becomes weak, it will not be able to read blank discs. It only takes a very strong laser to read/accept blank discs. If it happens that the laser (lens) is the cause of the problem, then it means you will need to replace the laser (lens) to a brand new one to be able to read blank disc. Though the player might be playing DVD and CD, note that blank disc is stronger when it comes to reading from the laser (lens), it requires sharper laser. I hope you understand this.

So, insert a CD into the player and observe if it will play.If it plays, then its obvious that your laser is very weak.

Concerning the incompatibility issue, I hope you are aware that there are various kinds of empty DVD discs such as DVD +, DVD -, DVD RW. Try any of this empty DVD discs as one of them as to be compatible with this DVD recorder.

Amongst the two topics discussed above, one has to be the cause of the problem. So its up to you to figure out which is the cause of the problem.

I hope you understand the above....

I wish you good luck.

When trying to play a computer generated DVD +R DL, I get a message that says this type of disc cannont be played. please insert a different disc

The disc is probably an incompatible format for this model player. Even if the disc is finalised in your PC, or in a DVD recorder, this player may still be unable to read it. Some DVD recorder/players do not recognise DVD+R (or +R DL) media, while others won't recognise +/-RW discs (except CD-RW); this is a model limitation - not a fault with either your player, the PC burning software or the discs themselves.

Nothing can be done to fix this except purchasing a model which accepts multimedia (+R/DVD-RAM etc). The question is, does your player play ANY normal DVDs? I am guessing your player will accept DVD-R DL discs just fine since this is standard as well as proper shop-bought movies.

Will not accept DVD -R or DVD +R discs . Will play DVD-r RW. Shows "Insert Disc"Cyberhome 402.

Found out on another site that Cyberhome DVD player will only accept certain makes of disc and always struggles with DVD+R. Their was a Firmware update which supposedly solved this problem but this is no longer available, It's old anyway and was very cheap - will buy a new player!!

It sounds like the recorder will only record the dvd+ format, which does NOT need finalizing to play in other machines. ( you can record a dvd- , play it back on the machine you recorded it on, but need to finalize it to play on other machines)
The other units may only accept dvd-.(dvd- being the same format as you would buy or rent a film on)
One option, record the dvd on a dvd+rw (if possible) then copy to a dvd-r using your computer. The average use of a dvd+ is 1000 recordings.
There are many free disc burning suites available to download. Just google "free disc burning software" and take your pick.
I use 1 called "magix goya base" for copying disc to disc and "NTI" for burning to HDD and then to disc, if you only have use of 1 drive.

Failure to accept DvD Ram discs in a Panasonic DMR-E55 Recorder

Possibilities are that the laser lens needs cleaning (use a proprietary cleaning disc) or that - as long as you are sure you have original manufacturers' discs and not fakes - the discs are scratched or dirty.

My player doent accept dvd disc from canada

Your player doesnt play a dvd disc in canada this could be because of region limitations and your remote control has nothing to do with this problem try replacing with new pair of batteries and try again.

Thankyou
