I tighten the chain prior to running it. After about 10 minutes of running it, I have to stop to tighten the chain again. It continues to do this every ten minutes or so of running.
If the cahin is new, then it will stretch for a while. Make sure you have enough oil going onto the chain when cutting, and not to much pressureon the blade when cutting, let the saw do the work. Also, if your chain is dull or blunt, it will get very hot and need frequent adjusting.
