Question about ASUS M2N-MX Motherboard
My mother board in not supported for installing windows sp2.
when i purchase the motherboard it working courrectly but after few days
the system was not responding then i m reinsatlling windows but it was unabale to installing it,but windows sp1 is working good
This could also be a BIOS settings problem...
Win XP needs the bios to be set for a "Plug and Play Aware OS".
Press Delete as soon as your system beeps on startup, that will take you into the BIOS. Go through the settings there and find the PCI settings and make sure this setting is enabled. (Asus has it off by default... why???)
Also be sure the ACPI function is enabled in the POWER section. I'm not sure if this really matters but the install went much more smoothly with it on.

Hi niket_shah, sorry but you're board Asus M2N-MX, does support Win XP SP2.
Chances are that while installing windows updates one or more updates failed. People like myself know from repairing PC's which updates need to be installed first. If you're Win XP SP2 did not or would not install than either the Win CD is not a valid Microsoft Win XP SP2 CD or (You have a copy) & there is something wrong with the CD. After a fresh (New install) of Win XP with SP2 there is more than 90+ updates for SP2 which must be downloaded through windows update program. Or you're windows will not function properly.
Just to show you what versions of windows the M2N-MX board does support. Click the link listed below. Once the link loads click the + sign next to Audio. Scroll down the page an notice the different Window version listed for you're board.
To recap this issue. The problem is either the WinCD or possibly you're hard drive. Make sure you allow windows to perform a full format before installing window. (Not a quick format).
