When I turn it on, it makes a noise like it's trying to run with a light click sound. After about 10 minutes it gets quiet but my computer does not recognize it. I've only had this 1 1/2 months.
I have no idea what's wrong with the HD, but since mine is dead, I strongly recommend removing your info while it's still working. At least you got a little warning in advance. As well, I've found that Iomega was pretty cool about exchanging faulty equipment, that's still under warranty. If you go in there on your own, you void the warranty.
Best of luck

My 500 GB Iomega external HD works like a charm on my MAC desktop PPC, but when I plug it into my Pentium MAC laptop it begins clicking and its ability to read data stalls and fails. Why would it work without fail on MAC PPC and fail so consitently on the Pentium MAC??

Oneday I plugged my hard drive in, and turned it on on the switch on the end of it, the blue light came on, it gave no evidence of any internal parts moving and then the light just faded away as if turning off. I don't know whats happened to it at all. I think it could possibly be something to do with the power input socket? Thanks!
