Question about Linksys WPC54G Wireless-G Notebook Adapter V2.0 (WPC54C)

Compaq Evo with wpc54g v.1 wireless adaptor

I've got an older n600c laptop running xp sp2. the wireles adaptor is recognized and pings the router (also a linksys) but will not or cannot connect regardless if i use the z config tool or the bundled software. the driver installed by windows is version 4.00. at least with this driver the signal l.e.d flickers indicating communication attempts. with the belkin driver v.3.10 only the power light is on.

the laptop is running a p4 with 384 megs of ram. any simple solution would be of great help. Thank You.

Hello!

-- make sure that the wireless settings of your router match the wireless settings if you are using the utility of the linksys adapter
-- make sure also that you dont have any firewall or any security on your computer
-- you may also try disabling the adapter wireless utility and use the wireless xp zero configuration instead.

Cannot setup WPA2 on WUSB54G & WPC11 adaptors

This is because those wireless adapters that you mentioned do not support for WPA2. Linksys will not release drivers for those adapters that will make it work with WPA2 because they are already discontinued. So the only other option is to stick with WPA or WEP

DENNIS.
IF I UNDERSTAND YOU CORRECTLY. YOU ARE TRYING TO CONNECT BOTH COMPUTERS TO THE ROUTER VIA USB ? IT WOULD BE EASIER YOU CONNECT ONE OF THE SYSTEM USING THE ETHERNET CABLE AND THE OTHER USB. THAT WAY YOU WOULD NOT HAVE TO BUY A USB ADAPTORS. AND WHEN YOUR WIFE SYSTEM GETS ONLINE HAVE HER GO TO HP WEBSITE AND UPGRADE HER SYSTEM DRIVERS.
ANOTHER WAY YOU CAN DO THIS IS ONE OF YOU GO WIRELESS. THAT WILL HELP YOU WITH SOME MOBILITY WITH YOUR SYSTEM AND LESS CABLES. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOUR RESULTS ARE

THANK YOU
