    TM-u220 only prints in red.

    Tried the following:

Replaced ribbon, downloaded latest Advanced printer driver from Epson, set to monotone print in Windows Printer settings.

Contacted Epson who suggested I use a black ribbon.... and never called me back as promised.

I don't think it's a driver issue... I hooked up a second TM-U220B to the same computer and it worked fine. also, all DIP switch settings were identical on both printers so I don't think it's a switch setting issue either.

Here's how I fixed mine... Looking at the inside closer, I realized that the ribbon tray (the metal assembly that the ribbon sits in) was bent upward in the bottom right hand corner; making the ribbon sit too high in the tray. I slipped a screwdriver under the bent area, applied presuure to straighten out the tray, and voila! It works fine now printing in both red and black. I'm guessing that people are are pulling back on the tray assembly when changing the ribbon resulting in slight bending over time.

Printer prints colours in different colours

Either you are out of red ink or the print head is getting plugged. Most printers substitute the nearest available color when a color runs out or the head is plugged. As some shades of red are made with yellow mixed, it therefore prints only in yellow if red is unavailable.

Click on " Print Test Page ", tell me what color does the Printout come in.
