The Disc Tray Will Not Open And/Or There Is A Disc Stuck In The Player. samsung dvd-r135 - spacer.gif Some DVD Players manufactured prior to 2003 have a Dealer Lock or Child Lock function. This will prevent the panel buttons from operating.

This function is activated by pressing the STOP button on the front panel
and the POWER button on the remote control simultaneously for four seconds in the power on state. Repeating this sequence releases the dealer lock. When the dealer lock in activated, DEALER LOCK ON or DEALER LOCK OFF scrolls on the display.

If this does not resolve your problem there may be an error with in the player. To resolve this try the following these steps:

  1. Unplug the DVD player from the electrical outlet and leave it unplugged for thirty seconds.
  2. Plug the DVD player back in to the electrical outlet, but do not turn the DVD player on.
  3. With the DVD player off, press the [Open/Close] button on the front of the DVD player. The home theater should power on when you press the [Open/Close] button and eject the tray.
The second option worked for me...

WHEN I PRESS THE OPEN/CLOSE BUTTON THE DISC TRAY DOES NOT OPEN. HOW CAN I GET THE DVD OUT OF THE DISC TRAY?

Look for the small hole in your dvd rom. This hole usually can fit a paper clip. Push and hold the paperclip inside the hole to open the dvd tray.

The DVD will not stop spinning. The door will not open either. When I took the cover of the players and plugged it in, the DVD just keeps spinning even when I hit STOP, OPEN, and turn the player OFF. ...

I've had this problem twice now.

The first time, I unplugged the unit for about a minute, plugged it back in and pressed the Open button. The disc was ejected and ran fine for about a week.

Then it happened again, but the unplugging didn't fix it this time.

Try this;
Unplug the unit and let it sit for a few mins to let the disc stop spinning. Then gently pull down on the DVD door. Look at the lower left side of the DVD tray and you should see a large slot. Shine a light into the slot and you will see a dime size white gear. I used a small flat head screwdriver to spin the gear to the right. After 2 small turns, the DVD tray opened enough so that I could pull it gently open. I took the DVD out, gently pushed the DVD tray back in and set the DVD player on my workbench to tinker with on a rainy day. Not sure what the root cause is, but I'll worry about that later!

Pre-recorded dvds used before now will not load?

Since there are no firmware updates for this device, the lens is either dirty or defective. Unfortunately, the reviews for this product aren't very good. http://reviews.cnet.com/dvd-recorders/samsung-dvd-r135/4505-9141_7-31778396.html

This is a common problem with the Lite-on LVW range of DVD recorders due to changes in the construction of more recent DVD R media. It can be solved with a relatively simple firmware upgrade.

Goto : http://r00.liteonit.com.tw/DC/english/download/index.asp

You'll need to have a blank CD and a CD/DVD writer in the PC you use to download the file.

Follow the instructions on the website to upgrade your firmware, this should then allow you to write to DVD's once again.
