Error Message: PXE-E61 Media Test Failure Check Cable

The Compaq Armada E500 notebook was working one minute. Next time it was booted up, screen started flashing, and any key you pressed it would just beep. Final message showed up in the middle of the screen - PXE-E61 Media Test Failure Check Cable.

Your problem is with your hard-drive.
remove and reconnect.

- Compaq 2100... Looking at it for a friend. First issue was the power supply over heating. Melted the last one, so he got a new power cord. Still getting real hot. Suggested he have the jack port looked at. The next day he calls after a night of running the thing for hours and says it will not boot and just gives the media test faliure ck cable. So I have attemped to switch the boot order. didnt help, also tried deleting the LAN option, it wont let me. Lost for options here. Any assistance would be appreciated. - catcat1065

- Compaq M2000 V2.13 getting PXE-E61 Media Test Failure on reboot.
Tried removing and reseating disk card and got same problem.
Then removed RAM and disk card, same problem. Got into setup and tried hard disk test and setup shows no IDE disk drive.
Finally after mutiple attempts, achieved restarting windows and boot OK.
Now in the process of copying all documents to a USB drive.
Expecting that the drive will go soon...- fbaratta

Not always the Hard drive, boot into the bios setup utility and de-select network bootfrom the boot options. If it tries to network boot first you will always get that failure.

I keep getting this message, and after my Toshiba Satellite boots up I get this magenta and blue lines all over my screen before the computer stops working. I thought it might be overheating so I bought a chill pad and it still had the same problem. I removed the battery and left on on AC power, nothing bad has happened yet. Should I replace the battery with a new one?

the problem on my laptop is when it starts up it says media test failure chech cable so what would be the solution for this.

I have a ACER lap top that has error message PXE-MOF: Exiting Broadcom PXE ROM and PXE-MOF: Media Test Failure. Check Cable.

the computer is set to boot from the network.

access the BIOS and set the computer to boot from the hard drive.

I have e 2007 Toshiba Lapotop not even a yr old. I was on the internet andf suddenly it froze. I waited about 5 to 10 minutes to see if it was working again and it wasn't, so i turned it off, since i couldn't do anything like shutting down. Five minutes later i turned it back on and it wouldn't even let me log in. The whole screen was black and showed writing in white saying " ethernet failure" or " media testy failure". People say that it is the hard drive, and others that it can be a virus. Can you help?

I install WinXP SP2 on PC with Asus P5GCMX Mainboard and set BIOS boot from Lan. Sometimes is ok Some getting that errors. Help!
