ok make sure the red light is the only thing on. press the power button do not let off it takes 5-10 sec the system should restore its self and find your components. if not you have an internal problem. give a bit more info. what cords are you using? is it a sdf or hd? do you hear sound from the tv?

Nothing show up on tv screen after plugging in the cables. the HDMI and the AV cables too.

Hi, try the following
1 using the av lead and not the hdmi so plug the av lead into your tv and make sure your tv is on the correct input
2 turn the ps3 on at the back
3 now press and hold the on button down until the ps3 switches itself back off
4 then press the on button again, doing this resets the video mode from hd back to standard av so once you have done this you should have a picture on the tv, if not check your on the correct input

if you have done the above and it still dont give you any video than please let me know then ill do my best to assist you further ok

please rate this solution, thanks

I have just brought ps3 and when i plug the leads into the tv ie red white and yellow leads i can not find the channel on my tv i have tried other tvs and same thing so i done away with the lead and just...

Hi, try not using the hdmi lead and plug the other lead back into the ps3 the normal av lead with the 3 color wires, now plug it into your telly now switch the ps3 on at the back so the red light is on at the front, now hold down the one button and it will bleep once then bleep twice and keep holding it down till it switches back off

so basically you switch it on at the back then press and hold down the on button until the ps3 turns itself back off, now what this does is reset the video mode so its not set to hdmi settings, now press the on button again and wait for it to come on if you still dont have picture on the telly make sure the video lead is fitted correctly and then get the telly remote and find one of the following buttons
av
source
input
or a rectangle with an arrow facing to the right.

once you have found this button make sure the ps3 is on and then press this button on the tv remote, you may need to press it more than once depending on how many inputs the telly has on it.

now when you press the button on the tv remote press it once then wait 5 sec before pressing it again just to give it chance to pick the signal up.

hopefully now you have the ps3 working through the normal av lead

let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

please rate this solution as i have a whole page of unrated posts, thanks

I get no picture on the tv when i turn the ps3 on. i have tried changing scart leads and scart sockets in the tv with no luck.

put your old av cables in you got with the ps3. turn system off, turn it back on using the button on the console not the control but hold the button down until you hear it beep once, keep holding it down until you hear a second beep, this will reset the ps3 back to the av outputs. you can change it to scart afterwards in the video menu settings

When putting dvd in there is sound but no picture.

Turn your ps3 off and turn it off at the back of the console. Disconnect either your HD lead or AV lead then re-connect. Turn the power on at the back then turn the console on by the sensor standby button on the front. Once booted up and on xmb screen (making sure there is no dvd in the console) press and hold the standby button on the front for 4 sec, after that you should here two beeps and the console will turn off . This resets the picture and sounds settings that the playstation would have automatically adjusted to when you first connected it to t.v . Turn the power off at the back again , then turn it on , turn console on and it will automatically adjust to that t.v again . Now try your dvd again and it should work. If it still doesn't then it possible you might need a new lead.Hope this was of help to you . PK

PS3 hook up to sony reciever

its in the sound settings on your ps3, change to hdmi out put, this should sort it, if not you can use your scart lead for the sound, just use red and white lead straight into your sound system or sony reciever. but you will need to set it up in the sound settings in your ps3. hope this helps
