Question about Computer Servers

1 Answer

Usb hi, I think my internet company is mistakenly charging me for their equipment. They are telling me that because my dog chewed on a cable that connects to my computer to their box that it fryed the satellite that is up in my tree. i think the cord is just a simple USB cable and im not thinking that it would be possible to do that. I'm trying to get all of the right information i can so i dont get charged for something that i shouldnt, and im not sure where to go to get answers.

Firstly, You have a satellite in your tree??? They normally store them in orbit around the planet =)

Anyway, what they are saying is highly possible. It may well be a USB cable that connects your computer to the satellite modem, but if that cable was chewed, then it could easily have shorted out the modem and is probably what they are claiming.

They will then have a cable that will go from the modem (box) to a satellite dish (which is what I think you have in your tree). The dish will be fine, the cable to the dish will be fine, the only 2 things that should have been affected are the cable and the satellite modem.

I will add just so you understand how it can be shorted out by just the USB cable that all USB cables carry +5 volts inside as well as the data.

Issue with power button in HP ProLiant ML370 G6 server

If i am not mistaken I belive that there are two power supplies, correct? what if you swap them? Or if you have a spare... I think that maybe either the button isn't working correctly or the power supply might have some issues...I also think there might be some LED lights on the power supplies themselves...check it out.

My computer says it has excellent wi fi signal. However, I am unable to gain access. It tells me the proxy is denying access or that it can't find the server.

Are you supposed to be using a proxy?
If you are, are the settings right, if your not, malware or a virus may have changed your proxy settings.
Goto.. Control panel / internet options / connections / lan settings
Here you will find options to set you IP or to automatically detect settings, and to use a proxy.
I have cable internet, i have automatically detect settings ticked, and no proxy

Hi , for a few weeks now the message'EA SERVERS ARE UNAVAILABLE" and are unable to play xbox Live. I have given Ben parental consent but it continues to appear. We have no internet problems just wondering...

If it only does it with the one game, then the company of the game, or the company hosting the game's servers is having problems with the way their servers are running.

Can i take the hard drives out and use them in a reader or some other way?

What type of drives are they? I could be mistaken here, but I believe that unit should be equipped with a non-raid scsi setup. I am assuming they are 68pin vs an 80 pin hot-swap arrangement. If so, then it would be easy to install a pci scsi controller, ribbon cable and sufficient power supply with leads into a mid or full-size tower (depending on number of drives) along with a used mother board. Depending on the drive type, you could also put together a home-brew array enclosure without too much trouble.

Trying to boot from external dvd drive

u must either have one of the boot and install OS...also the seq in BIOS must be availabe and enabled
1 Floppy
2 CD Rom Drive - internal
3 CD Rim Drive - External connected thru USB
4 You can also try to connect a USB pen drive having the OS install program and try - I have not tried that so not sure if this option works...sorry
5 If u can open the machine then u can connect another internal HD(this can contain ur OS install files) to the cable (connector points in the flat cable) that connect your internal HD to the Motherboard.

if i can think of anything else i will post
all the best

Hi ,
Try to cutdown power usage. unplug the floppy power and cdrom power and try again.
If it works , then it is power issue.
Use external devices that have their own power (not drawn from usb).
Also try to change the usb cable and retry.
Also try other usb ports (surely you have more than one).
If other ports work (use a usb hub).

Good luck with your issue,
