I have e-mailed Panasonic who tell me to take it to a local dealer with a customer complaint number. As the radio is less that 2 years old I consider it Not fit for Purpose as defined by The Sale of Goods Act. The problem has been known about for about 3-4years and Panasonic do not want to acknowledge it. I have asked for further instructions from Panasonic

I have tuned in my video to my tv but I cannot get the tv station

I had a similar problem. After a nearby lightning strike I lost video to the TV. When the SA-HE100 source switch was set to DVD or TV I lost the TV picture. In my system configuration I send composite video (yellow jacks) to the SA-HE100 from the DVD player, VCR and satellite receiver. From the "TV Monitor Out" jack (yellow jack) the video goes to an RF modulator then is sent to the TV as RF channel 3. At first it seemed the modulator was defective but plugging in another identical modulator damaged the second unit also. This made me look at the amp as the culprit. Curiously, the amp would pass through VCR video without a problem but I didn't know it because of the damaged RF modulator. Whenever the amp source switch was set to DVD or TV the amp would put -4.75V DC on the "TV Monitor Out" jack thereby damaging the connected RF modulator. The repair is relatively simple. The only special skill required is you will need to be able to desolder a 14 pin DIP IC. The damaged component on my amp was IC364 mounted on the board that holds the yellow video jacks. The IC is a JRC 2279D, a 3 input/2 output video switch available from Digikey p/n NJM2279D-ND, $1.50 each.

Panasonic DMR-HS2 RF out is not outputting signal CH3 CH4 off

The most likely cause of this is the unit being in progressive scan mode. In progressive mode, the composite output is disabled. If you can, connect the DVD using the component output connections. If your TV does not have component input, connect the green connector to the yellow on the TV. If the unit is in porgressive scan, you will see a garbled picture on the screen. The only way to fix this is to turn off progressive scan. The manual will tell you how to do this.

Radio Panasonic RF-4900 - no power

Just spent the afternoon with an RF4900 with a power problem. The set was intermittent. Found on the back of the set where the ac plugs in, there is a switch that is ingaged when the ac plugs into the set. If the ac cord is old it might not be engaging this switch when the cord is plugged into the set. The switch controls ether battery power or ac power.

I have an old Panasonic RF 888 portable radio. It is in excellent condition, except the volume is very low and scratchy.

Have you tried opening up the radio and spraying contact cleaner into the volume potentiometer? This is a common problem in older electronics. The RF 888 has 4 screws on the back. Remove those and you can lift off the back cover. (Be careful because those screws pass through the center of the radio and hold the front cover in place.) Get some electronic cleaner at Radio Shack and spray it into the small opening on the side of the volume control. Rotate the volume several times and let the spray evaporate and see if things sound better.

Cd player fault quick fix any one?

You can do a few things to see what may happen.
  1. Check the spindle height. The platters sometimes slip down the shaft, or the spindle motor bearing drops and the platter gets closer to the lens.
  2. check that the spindle motor has not become lazy and "poling". give it a few spins. then try to read a disc again.
  3. Clean the laser lens with a cotton wool bud moist with windex glass cleaner. Then "polish the lens with a dry one.
  4. the spindle motor top bearing is worn and the payer mistracks as the armature moves about under the changing drive conditions. Makes the player mistrack and skip. More likely to happen at the start of a disc, because the disc is spinning fastest whilst reading the TOC.
A drop of light machine oil from a syringe oiler can help the bearing to spin an not produce the knock. Only a short term fix to give the motor a "lube". Once the oil leaches out of the worn bearing the problem will return. I have run motors immersed in an oil bath to rejuvenate them before... but better to replace it anyway if its suss at all. Good luck, You could bump my profile by giving me a "FixYa" rating for my sharing my "knowhow". Any problems check back with me here.

regards
Graeme.

Actually, you can go into the system settings by choosing "Parental, Fav's & Setup" then choose "system setup" then choose "remote" the IR/RF setup. Change it to IR and follow the instructions. Once I did that my remote worked on my DirecTV DVD HR22-100
