Question about ASUS P5LD2-VM Motherboard

My Asus mobo P5ld2 cant turn on

My friend give the mobo to me. then it works fine with P4 3.0 , two sticks of DDR2 512 MB Ram.But when i change another Power supply adapter (very old), then switch on the power, the onboard LED light was flicking, and i hear some strange sound from the power supply adapter, so i turn off the power immediately, the mobo and the power adapter do not had anything bad smell , but when i use the original power supply adapter , the LED light was still bright but the mobo cant turn on anymore.
P.S. i had tested the CPU (P4 3.0) and two sticks of ram still working fine with ECS mobo. May i have any solution to fix it because the warranty of the mobo is expired. THX...

Did you try to unplug all AC Power; remove internal surface battery; and then jumper the 'reset' pins from 1-2 to 2-3 ? Leave in this state for about 5 minutes- then replace battery; re-jumper back to pins 1-2- replace AC power cord. Sometimes wiping out the BIOS setup information and restarting/re-setting it up will do the trick!

There are chances that the old power supply adapter has damaged the capacitors and power circuit of the board got damaged.
Try powering on once again .. if still the problem persists.. there is no way you can fix it.. you might probably need an expert to see to the circuits!

I want to upgrade my PC's RAM from 128 to 512 MB Is is possible to add only single RAM or two 256 MB RAM?

Depending on your mobo, you can do either, add one stick of 512MB or two sticks of 256MB. If you're sure you get matching sticks if your mobo is DDR capable.

My friends Acer Aspire 3000 notebook fails to boot after trip to Las Vegas. Possible MB failure. All I see are 6 blinking lights (green front panel light) when I press the power key. Unit is powered.

yeah... it is definitely a mobo problem. but try to reset the hardware by just removing the RAM modules and inserting them back. To do it well, remove the ram modules, then turn ON the device. if mobo is ok, the device should beep. if it doesn't beep, turn it OFF and put back the ram. the mobo is defective

    No signal on monitor

You might try switching the VGA cable if you haven't. If that doesn't work then I'd agree with you in saying the motherboard is likely fried.

Could be that your ram is either Bad or the wrong type. I just had a similar problem. I changed the ram and up it came.

Yes, your mobo Asus P5LD2-VM support CPUs with Conroe-core ("Core 2 Duo"). But for new CPUs strongly recommended use last BIOS version - 1401 from 2007/08/14.
