Do you receive any error messages when your computer freezes or after you reboot? Does the problem occur any time other than when you are converting dvd's?

You can clean up your hard drive by using disk cleanup. This utility, (found in the 'START' - 'All PROGRAMS' - 'ACCESSORIES' - 'SYSTEM TOOLS' menu), will examine your hard drive and provide you with a list of temporary files, most of which can be safely removed. After disk cleanup you will want to use the disk defragment utility.

Hi there,
this sounds like a lack of resources on your system... i would recommend that you increase your RAM ..say if u got 256Mb upgrade to around 512Mb ... also you should look at your CPU processor also ... this would have an effect on the speed and how your system goes about burning DVD's ...also make sure nothing else is running in the background ...say virus scanners etc....also maybe u can try this software ..works nicely:-

How to fix a bad hard drive.

If you have a hard drive that crashed and can't live with the thought of starting over .. there is one last thing you can do to get your info from the disk!!

FREEZE IT... YES.. i said to put your comp. hard drive in the freezer...

First you need a ESD bag (antistatic bag) You are going to need a new hard drive anyways. When you get your new hard drive. it will come with a ESD bag over it..

Put the old hard drive in the bag...
Put the new drive in your comp.
Put the hard drive in the freezer over night..
24hours in the freezer = about 30mins run time... might get more time out of it if you freeze it longer but ... you will just have to test it

put the hard drive in and test it... if it works ( like it should ) you can use the old hard drive as a backup and keep freezing it to get the info off.

Computer keeps freezing everytime i try and open a programme

try doing a system restore on it. To tell You the truth I can't stand Norton because if You miss one of the updates it just doesn't seem to work. I had Norton a long time ago and got rid of it. All My family and friends that had it got rid of theirs also. Hope that helps You out. You can contact Me at randwlekfield@charter.net if You have more questions.

Why does my curor freeze up?

First I would replace the batteries. I had the same problem a couple of years ago. The solution for me was getting rid of McAfee AV. To check if it is your problem, use CTL-ALT DEL to turn McAfee off and see if that gets rid of your mouse freeze ups.

HELP

I would check the Ram and CPU. If you can swap the ram you have with good ram, or if you have more than one stick of ram in there take one out at a time to see if thats the problem. Next go into bios and check the CPU temperature after you have been running your computer for a while. The problem with diagnosing this problem is how much time in between freezes. 18 times in 6 months makes it hard to diagnose, because you won't know if you fixed the problem unless it freezes again after you changed something, and even if it does freeze again it could be because of an entirely different problem.

Freezing

Firstly i would suggest unindtalling the programme and installing again. To give a clue as to what the problem is, go to Control Panel>Performance & Maintanence>Administrative Tools>Event Viewer. On the left hand side, look down the list to Applcations and click on it; and look at the dates when you ran the programme to give a clue as to the fault.
