To format you must need the boot disk of that windows XP professional ....
boot from that cd and then give install ... there your previous installation will be detected and then it will ask to delete the existing windows folder in that then it will show the option to convert to ntfs or to format the parition there if you select that format means it will format and install the windows Xp ...

i already told na why your pc is slow .. that is because of the virus attack some system files are missing & they are got corrupted ...
if you dont have the virus now in the system means also those system files cannot be replaced it is only possible by reinstalling the xp as i have told it earlier ..

uninstall one antivirus from system ...
dnt use 2 antivirus ... because using 2 antivirus it will eat more RAM memory so by this your operations will get slow down ....

Soryy my dear...

my percentage is getting down as you are rating helpful so i asked....
ya by formatting you will lose all your files in that drive ...
store your important files in other drive...
make sure dnt format other drives ...
ok download that mcaffe antivirus it is gud one and install that ...
ok do it whenever you want but you must follow those same steps that s it...
if you restore your pc to last dates means you will be losing some datas which you had made after that datas ...
those files will become unusable ...
if you restore also the virus will not go until you do that what i told ...
if you insert pen drive it will also get attack with that trojan, funny scandal,smss.exe...

For u

once you format your drive in which the operating system windows xp resides this is possible only from the windows xp cd ...
ask some of your friends and get the cd ... or you download the image from the net and write in to the cd and then do that work ....

you can download the windows XP image file from some of the sites below .... it may take many hours to download and it depebds upon the speed of the net connection ..

www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm

www.svrops.com/svrops/dwnlddisk.htm

www.allbootdisks.com/

www.allbootdisks.com/download/xppro.html

www.optimizingpc.com/howtouse/imagebootdisk.html

www.brothersoft.com/downloads/windows-xp-boot-disk-image.html

after downloading you write in to the cd and boot it from the disc by changing the first boot device in bios settings ...

after that select the drive in which the previous operating system resides and it will give you the warning that there is already windows folder in that drive then it will offer you for the format then format that drive and then follow the instructions to install that s it ..
you will get install with the windows ...
while installation it will ask for the product key then if you have downloaded from net then in that image there will be serial key note it down and then insert it when it asks that s it ...

Thanks a lot dileep007 ur a great person

if you are sure that you have removed the virus then you must reinstall the operating system windows XP ...
for reinstalling you need to have the windows XP boot disc ....
for this you can reinstall the XP ...
after that you install the mcaffee total protection .. download it from the some of the site given below :

www.brothersoft.com/mcafee-total-protection-67162.html

www.download.com/McAfee-Total-Protection-for-Small-Business/3000-2653_4-10672507.html

after downloading then update the virus database

then you can work comfortably ...
