You could have a weak oven ignitor. If it has a "glowbar" style ignitor they get weak after while and will light once or twice nd then wont be drawing enough energy to open the gas valve on subsequent attempts. You can check only with a clamp on amp meter. If under 3 ampa replace the ignitor.

Pilot light stays lit but oven will not stay lit

I would be interested to know just how long it is that the oven does stay lit. All ovens, gas and electric, cycle off and on throughout a baking cycle, to maintain the proper temp. If the flames or the power to the element were to stay on at full power for the life of the food's required time in the oven it would most likely wind up charred. The temp would simply continue to rise, up and up and up. If that's what it appears to be doing, then it's just working normally. If it goes out completely and stays off, doesn't come back on in a few minutes, then it may be in a keep warm mode. Many ranges have a TIMED BAKE cycle available, so you can set the clock to start the oven at such and such a time, cook the food and then shut off. Once it's finished with the cooking cycle, it goes into a keep warm mode, where it will come on for a short time and then go off, to maintain about 180 degrees. Not hot enough to really cook anything anymore, but hot enough to keep it warm for you when you get ready to eat.
If this seems to be the way it's acting, then look for the timed bake function on the console and set things back to a manual mode.

Kenmore wall oven model 911.4088816

i believe this oven was designed to reach a set temp and then interm shutdown to keep that set temp..If oven elements turn back on when temp is raised higher than previous temp ..then there is a good chance its working properly.this is a saftey feature to keep elements on stove from overheating..

Gas oven dosen't maintain set temperture

My experience on the direct spark ranges is that the gas valve is usually at fault for this problem. The regulator valve and the burner shutoff solenoids are all built together in one valve assembely. The valve will work properly until it gets hot then it will stick and not open when the oven calls for heat again.
Please post back with the complete model and serial numbers if you need further help in troubleshooting it. There have been many updates and design changes on these ranges.
Thanks/Mike

I have a kenmore self cleaning gas range. For some reason, when I turn on the oven (ie bake), a lot of heat is coming out from the ''exhaust'' between the range and the panel. And the oven inside is not...

this is normal allowable temps are upto 180 degrees
i know it sucks but it is normal for that model

that is as long as your oven reaches and maintains temp

GE Xl44 does not reach or maintain setpoint . Display indicates increases of 5 degrees/second, but temp is not reached or maintained.

Have your oven ignitor checked. If they do not get hot enough quick enough the oven will light intermit. Usually when it does light you will often get a scent of gas or a poof. If that's the case, change the ignitor

My oven heats up, but then does not maintain the temp.

If it has a pilot then I would say the thermal couple is bad. If it has a glow type ignitor then the ignitor is bad.

Oven does not maintain temp.

It sounds like a thermocouple problem. While using the broiler, you gave the gas set to full and the thermostat is basically out of the loop.

Oven will not maintain temprature

This is a parts problem, I think called the burner ignitor. It is a pn oven part. We have had it in the past and are experiencing it again. We have had our stove for about 15 years, so I guess it is not too bad a problem, but not inexpensive. The oven is letting the gas be off too long between reignitions, so it does not maintain temperature. The first time we realized the probelem was with the Thanksgiving turkey (pink in the joints.)

We had to have the part replaced about 7 years ago and the part was about a $200 part plus service call. I am sure it more costly now. Hopefully you can get yours under warranty.

as far as the elementy working, if it glows red, its working. if the unit is preheating within 12-15 min, id say the elements are fine. as far as not maintaining temp, thats strange, if the elemnt turns on the control is sendinding power, and its shuttin off so its stopping power, sounds as if a relay is geting stuck on the control board, strange thngs happen when you short things out like that.
