Yes you can. The saltwater chlorinator is connect to the outlet water pipe from the sand filter before the water returns to the pool. Depending upon the model of the saltwater chlorinator It may need to be mounted horizontally or vertically, check with the installation instructions..
Must set the timer!!! It will not generate chlorine without setting the timer... Try these instructions to unlock your timer and set the unit... If this helps, please rate the information.. Thanks and good luck!
The standalone unit has the same programing as the salt water unit with the integrated pump. When you see "FP" it is in Filter Pump mode. Simply press the down button for 2 seconds, then the up button for 2 seconds to unlock the pad. Either change your run time or leave it the same and lock the pad (hold the down button for 2 seconds and then press the up button for 2 seconds). After it locks you should see the green working light come on. The reason FP isn't in the manual is that you don't need Filter pump mode on the stand alone unit (I think it should still be in there as it is still possible to get into this mode on accident).
press and hold down arrow till it beeps
press and hold up arrow till it beeps
now use up arrow to select hours to run
now down again till beeps
and then up again till it beeps
wait 2-10 minutes for second green light to come on
Plug the pump in. You will see code 88 which is normal. Press and hold the down button for 2 seconds until you hear a short beep. Then press and hold the up button for anohter 2 seconds until you hear a short beep and the LED flashes 00. Using the up button set the time to run based on the size of the pool which you did not list. Tell me the size and I will tell you how many hours to set on the timer. I'm not sure exactly what buttons you're pushing but you push the down button until it beeps, then the up button until it beeps. Then you set it. To lock it you push the down button until it beeps, then the up button until it beeps. Hope that helps and I apologize if those are the steps you're already taking.
Hold the down arrow till it beeps then hold the up arrow till it beeps When you see double zero then set the # of hours you want it to run with the up and down arrows.
Then you will need to lock it in use the down arrow again and wait for a longer beep then the up again till a long beep.
You are set remeber that it will take about 5 minutes for the chlorine light to come on
you can also go to intex.comm and watch the video or read the manual
