My ice machine is making ice. However, when I place a glass next to the hatch and push in, no ice comes out.

The ice maker is making ice. Whe I place a glass under the dispenser for getting ice, the hatch does not open. Ice collects in the chute area. If I manually open the hatch with my hand, the ice then falls out into the glass.

Water does not come to ice maker

Is this the reason you replaced the solenoids and ice maker? If so please see suggestions below.
Is the replacement ice maker an exact replacement? Non exact replacements may not work.
Ice maker may not be cycling to call for water, ice maker fill tube may be frozen, bad connection from ice maker (at the ice maker connector) to solenoid, or open wire from ice maker connector to solenoid. Ask for details for the above possibilities.

If your ice maker was leaking before and after the valve replacement, it is likely the ice maker that is at fault. The ice maker energizes the water solenoid, its not a pump, which then opens to allow the pressurized water flow up to the ice maker. If the valve solenoid has been replaced, the culprit is likely the ice maker itself. The valve should only be open for about 7-9 seconds, but if the ice maker motor is slow, or if there is some other malfunction with the ice maker, it will energize the valve for too long, causing it to then overflow. It could also be a hairline crack in the ice maker mold that is causing it to leak.

Whirlpool refriigerator ice maker not working

With ice makers it is almost always one of two things. The ice maker itself, or the water valve. Figuring out which one is easy, and I will help explain.

First thing is the frig has to be cold enough for the ice maker to even start working. I'm assuming we have the cold part taken care of. Next, the machine will start a cycle and ask for water. Here is where the valve comes in. The ice maker energizes the valve and it opens allowing water to rush up the back of the frig and into the ice maker. After the ice freezes the ice maker goes into harvest and dumps the ice.

In conclusion, you either have an ice maker that stalled at some point during that cycle (in which case you need a new ice maker). Or the water valve is not opening, thus no water enters the ice maker and you get zero ice.

If you have ice in the ice maker and it is not dumping, you need a new ice maker. If it is empty, you have to either wait for it to ask for water or manually advance the ice maker into cycle so you do not have to wait.

At this point you will hear the water valve energize or not. If it never energizes, the ice maker is not working right, if it energizes and you get squat, the valve needs to be replaced.

If you have experience with a multimeter you could detach the harness going to the ice maker and simply hook up your leads. When the ice maker asks for water, you should get 110v reading on the meter. If you do, the valve is bad and needs to be replaced.

If I can be of any further assistance please let me know. good luck!

Oh, and the valve probably sells for between $50 and $100 depending on where you buy it. The ice maker should run between $100 and $180.

The automatic ice maker quit working, but first the water control valve hung up open [the refill cycle did not end]. Fortunately, I was nearby and when I looked into the ice maker I saw a slow flow of...

I removed the wiring connectors from the two water control valves and when I reconnected the wires for the ice maker I heard the unit cycle. When I checked the ice maker, the ice maker shutoff arm was now completely down, operational position. Previously, I could see that the arm was up, but not at the top of the cycle. I'm not sure what caused the ice maker to cycle, but I am assuming that there was corrosion on the wiring connectors which was wiped off when unplugging/replugging the connectors.

Turned ice maker off prior to a ten day vacation. Upon return, it would make thin shelled ice cubes and finally stopped altogether. Could the water line be frozen How does one de-ice?

Fastest way is to remove the ice maker tray so that you have an open area where the ice maker filling tube is, then cover your food with a towel or something to help prevent it from thawing while you let refrigerator defrost for about 20 to 30 minutes with a hair drier on warm or a small fan blowing directly on ice maker where the water fill tube or opening is. I does not need to be right next to the ice maker just an unrestricted open area to let it warm sufficiently to thaw it out without thawing out your food in the freezer. A small piece of ice can stop the valve from opening and this can happen if it is not used regularly.

Ice maker not working

Pour about 2/3 cup of water into the ice maker . Also , check the black fill hose that fill the ice maker , to make sure it is not frozen . If the ice maker dumps the cubes , then replace the water inlet valve . If the ice maker holds the ice , and does not dump , replace the ice maker . When you open the freezer door , the laser light , should blink twice , then pause ,repeatedly . If you close the flap on the left side , the laser should go off . These are indication that the optics are good . If you open the door , and no laser light , then that means that the ice maker is in the harvest (dump) mode . If it stays this way , ice maker is bad .
