Hi daoud,
Fine how are you?

There are number of ways to protect/hide your HDD/Partion/Folders. Here I am giving an example 'How to Hide Your Drive i.e. Partition'. Follow these following simple and easy to use steps:

  1. Go to Start -> Run -> "regedit"
  2. Find: HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Policies/Explorer
  3. Choose Edit -> New -> DWORD Value and give name NoDrives.
  4. Double click NoDrives and determine which drive that you want to vanish in Value Data.

Ex: If you wish to vanish drive E:, insert value 16 in Value Data.

The combination value in "Value Data" are as following:
    A: > 1
    B: > 2
    C: > 4
    D: > 8
    E: > 16
    F: > 32
    G: > 64
    H: > 128
    I: > 256
    J: > 512
    K: > 1024
and so on.........

There are also awailable software on the web for protecting your HDD. To have a look click here.

But be aware using HDD protection softwares, if you missed your password there is no chance to get your data back or to use any how your HDD.

Thanks
Iqbal

    Hi Daoud,

Great you did the trick very well, but you have done a minor mistake thats why your both drives C: and E: vanished. Actually the values for drives listed above are in Decimal Base and you have entered the Value in Hexademal Base, i.e. if you want to put in hexadecimal then 16 will became 10.

Nice, now your drive is not protected it just disappeared from My Computer to access the data on the drive Open My Computer and just type the drive letter in Address box followed by : in your case E: and then press enter key the content of the drive will be displayed.

    Thanks

    Iqbal

wow Daoud thanks, but m unhappy with your ratings, first you have given Fixya, Then Helpfull.......lol now m sure you will rate as thanks for Trying or Inappropriate.

Anyways I was told you in my first solution thats there is a number of ways to do that. And the tric which i have given you is a registry modification means this value have not been written to specific disk its just written on system partition which contains the registry file, so it will be avial at another PC on which the registry key is not modified.

To protect HDD there are thirdparties softwares which used to write your password on HDD and so it will be protected at any system. But the dengerious thing about using these software is that if you forget your password then your hdd will be un-useable. Even then you want to try, I have given a link for such type of sofware, you can use it on your own-risk.

    Thanks

    Hi, Friend

You should ask new question in new thread.

Anyways, there is a number of reasoins that might cause Bluetooth problems.

    1. First check-out in device manager that the driver is installed currectly, there might not be any 'Yellow Marked' compnent, if you have any one marked with yellow color, means there is missing driver. If so, fix it by re-installing the proper driver.

    2. Then find out the bluetooth device is on and its in the range. If still did not fix, then try step 3.

    3. If driver is ok, then try this link, Microsoft Guides here how to troubleshoot Bluetooth Step by Step.

    Thanks

    Dear friend,

If you will ask question here, then this will come only to me. No other expert can see your question.

I requested you before please ask your question in new thread. And I am sorry to inform you that I am not going to answer you any more because for my each answer I got degrade my rating from you. I think I am niether able to under stand your question nor you as after my solution which I think is correct, you gave me a down-grade rating.

Anyways I again request you to ask your question in new thread.

    Thanks for using Fixya

My laptop Model Compaq 5204NR I want to extend my hardisk. Is it possible to use External Hardisk for this model laptop. If it means how much can i use 1TB hardisk or which is suitable for this laptop....

Yes you can use an external HDD to extend your current HDD. If by extend you mean use the external HDD for storage and such.
However if you wanted to literally extend your current HDD by creating a single partition for both HDDs then it could be extremely problematic because the external HDD will be connected with an USB cable. If you were to accidentally unplug the usb cable then your whole system would crash.

I insert my memory card into the drive and it wont show in computer what do i do

One reason your external drive may not be showing up in explorer could be an issue with assigning the drive letter to the device. This normally happens when the device attempts to assign itself a drive letter that is already taken by another drive or a network mapping. Here is how you can quickly test if this is your issue:
WARNING: Double check the drive you are selecting before changing your drive letter. Accidently changing the drive letter of the wrong drive, such as the one holding you OS can cause your computer to stop booting.
1. With the device connected right click your “My Computer” icon.
2. From the menu select “Manage” which will load the computer management window.
3. Inside the computer management window select “Disk Management” from the left side of the screen under “Storage”.
4. After all your devices are scanned and loaded into the right side of the screen you will see the various drives and partitions connect to your computer.
5. Located the device you are having an issue with in the low section of the right screen panel and check to see if a drive letter is assigned to it. If you are unsure of what it should look like with a drive letter assigned observe your “Disk 0” device which normally is connected to the “C:” Drive letter.
6. Assuming there is no drive letter assigned to your problem drive, or the drive letter is already taken you can simply right click on the partition and select “Change Drive Letter and Paths”. The partition will be the part which lists the file system type and the size.
7. Once in the “Change Drive Letter and Paths” window click the “Add” button and then select a drive letter that is not in use and click “OK”.
8. After you have clicked OK/YES to all the dialog boxes your drive’s partition should now have a drive letter that you can access via explorer.

HP laptop

The problem is that the hard drive in the unit is a SATA (serial) drive. And The XP cd will not see your hard drive without the SATA drivers. You said that you clean out your hard drive, did you delete all partitions? HP puts the recovery files on a D partition if it is still there, there is hope for recovering Vista and all the drivers. If not you may need to order the Recovery cd's from HP.

Try this when you boot the laptop, hit F11 as it is booting. See if the recovery menu comes up. If it does, than proceed with a full recovery. If it does not, then you will need the cd's.

Here is a HP document on how to add serial drivers to a XP installation

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&cc=us&docname=c00758841&dlc=en&product=3243161

You may have to copy and paste the link into your browser.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

External hard disk problem

control panel, computer management, storage section, disk management. you may have to download the administrative tools for windows xp/2000/vista to find this. if you have multiple memory card readers, the drive letter assignments to these drives are conflicting with the drive letter that is being assigned to your external hard drive. assign the partition of your hard drive a letter not used down in the alphabet (such as x:) for e*X*ternal.
