Hi my dell inspiron 530 computer recently can't play disc ,so like most people i checked for solutions for this problem ,non of them worked which got me furious until i found out that my Region fo

To change the Region code on your DVD player, open Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device manager, and click on DVD/CD ROM drives, then right click on the DVD drive and click Properties then click on DVD Region.
You can enter a new region and it also shows you how many changes have been made.
NOTE you can make only 4 changes and the player will lock permanently on the 4th change.
If you want to play DVDs from any region you maybe able to upgrade the firmware to make it region free BUT if you make a mistake or installed the wrong firmware the player will be a piece of junk.
The best solution to make the player region free is to install a piece of software (Passkey for DVD) that allows you to play DVDs from any region and Passkey for Blu-ray that allows you to play Blu-rays from any region. There are several available on the Internet but my favourite is DVD-Region Free From: -

Region blocked and we cant unlock it! we have 0 changes remaining

One thing you can try if you know how to is to open up the case on the PC and take the DVD drive out, then you will need to go into the device manager on the PC and find the DVD-RW in there, right click it and click on "uninstall" then after you've done that, turn it off again, plug the drive back in and turn it on, then once it's found it and installed the driver for you, you should hopefully have 5 changes for it.

My blu-ray player on my acer aspire 6920 isnt reading a blu-raY MOVIE I JUST BOUGT

i`m pressuming you are in the uk ? if so !

Go to acer arcade deluxe
select "Play Movie"
Select "settings"
select "BD settings"
Select "region code"
Select "region B" for the UK

Important Note!:
You can only change your region !!! 5 !!!! times!
that is 5 times!
I am totally stressing this.....5 times!

You may have to do this a second time so your computer locks on to this region code.
If you watch an american blu-ray vid, on the fifth change of the region code your computer locks to this region !FOREVER!

Trying to alter my dvd/cd-rom region code to region 2.using device manager but dvd region tab not there? help!

As you may be aware, the Music & Film Industry thinks we are all criminals and pirates .. whilst they, themselves, believe it is quite allright to sell their products at different (i.e. rip-off) prices in different markets ..

This means they have encrypted their products (DVD movies) using licensed DRM technology and use something called 'Region Encoding' to prevent criminals (when it comes to DRM, all customers are assumed to be criminals) from buying their product eg in USA for half the price they sell it for in the UK ..

Any DVD Drive manufacturer that wants to incorporate the ability to play video DVD's must agree to implement Region Encoding in bother their hardware and their drivers ...

HOWEVER it is plainly too much to expect Manufacturers to make different drives for different markets .. SO when you install a new DVD drive, you have a maximum of 3 chances to select the Region .. after this, Windows, the DVD Driver and the DVD Drive itself refuses to allow you to change it anymore ..

Various 'engineers tools' exist that can remove the '3 strikes and you are locked out' limit - or even to switch the drive into 'Region Free' mode .. but only for some Manufacturers drives .. and there are some 'open source' tools that allow you to play DVD's in a non-Regfion specific drive .... (hint - use google)

If you have VISTA, however, all bets are off (since MS agreed to enforce the Music Industry DRM wether the user likes it or not).

Good luck !

I need to make my acer aspire 6929G a multi region player

You can usually change the region code but only 4 times then it locks to whatever region you picked last.
You don't need to make it region free, just download a program called AnyDVD by Slysoft. It's runs in the background and removes protection from any movie dvd you put in the drive.
