Ok....Here are some updates....Hopefully it will help others....I removed the chassis and took it in to a shop...since i could not find any info on the power supply....It was the power supply...The tech replaced 2 transistors and one capacitor...I had to readjust the projection...and it's running pretty decent...One small detail...The image lately was poor...and did not know why...When i opened the back...the lens were covered in dust...So i think a once a year cleaning would definitely help a lot....Thank you all..Oh..the cost of the service was 296 dollars and change....parts and labour....

The T con board is responsible for what you see and is responsible for bad, distorted images.

First of all, if you have any warranty or service plan, exercise them. Secondly, you can bring it to a local service center. There are also a lot of technicians willing to work on-site at your home. You mentioned an IC that needs replacing. I cross-reference that and it seems it is a very inexpensive part ($7.90) that you may be able to replace yourself if you have used a soldering iron. It is simply a switching regulator. It says it controls power switching on CRT displays. If your TV is a CRT don't bother with it, the repairs can cost you more than half of what a VERY decent LCD would. Go into a local Radio Shack and ask about the 37'' AKAI, it even has a built in DTV tuner, the picture is beautiful. It supports 1080i/p but it is scaled(1366x768).

I have a Hyundai rear television HY5111W.I noticed that picture became distorted then disappeared. Can you help me fix it

Hello

Watching standard cable on an HDTV can be quite a shock; the images are likely to be in a smaller aspect ratio, and have grainy or pixelated distortions. Additionally, the use of non-HD compatible devices, such as a DVD player, VCR, or older gaming system, will produce a less than stellar picture.

If you've changed the aspect ratio or your television, or have changed the zoom in or out, you may be encountering distortion that would otherwise not be noticeable. Setting the picture to a 1:1 ratio and turning off any overscan can help ensure a better quality image.

If you're using a system that supports HD, such as a Blu-ray player or an HD-compliant gaming system without the use of an HDMI cable, the image may be distorted. HDMI cables transmit both HD quality digital images and sound over one cable, and provide the best possible picture A/V signals.

Philips 46-inch Rear Projection with bowed image?? slight distortion

You have a convergence problem. Here are some of the most common symptoms.

Screen looks 3D
One or more colors can't be adjusted when when using the convergence menu.
Screen is bowed in but stationary.

Solution:
You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kit for your exact model. The kit inlcludes a photo instruction guide, original Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, etc. Everything you need to fix it yourself. Its an easy fix.

Thats a strong possibility as the STK730-010 is the power amplifier for the convergence circuits. Its an inexspenive part to replace and easy to install. You can get a replacement IC at the following link and they provide free on line tech support for free as well as send instructions on how to replace the IC. Here is thier link if youd like it. I am one of thier on line tech supports as well as one of thier board rebuilders.

Picture distorted

Hello buddylaw,

Can you post a picture of the TV screen with the problem? It will help in the diagnoses. It looks like you may have a thermal sensitive component causing this issue. But I will have to seen a picture of the screen to properly diagnose this problem as to the possible section that may be causing this problem.

Thank you.

The RCA P52960 uses the PTK195 series chassis. There are 2 main boards at the bottom of the set and above the board on the right (when viewed from behind) is the convergence power supply board. This board usually has a big black IC on it, labeled STK730-010 and bolted to a metal heat sink. Chances are, that IC has burned out and stopped working. Replacing that IC should restore your convergence. If you do not have experience replacing IC's in projection sets, allow a qualified tech to handle it for you.

Probably the convergence circuit, the STK output devices, associated resistors, power supplies, etc. Generally about $250 to repair. Have a service tech come out and check it out, also have them eveluate the condition of the crts before going too far. Good luck
