Television will not turn on, red light flashes in four blink intervals. What is the problem?

This mogiht be a problem in the High Voltage power supply. Or the Horizontal output section of the TV. I would start off by checking the Horizontal Output Transistor and the using a high voltage probe check the CRT anode voltage to make sure it is proper. If you do not have a background in electronics I would not suggest that you attempt to work on this set.

you can have the inverter board replaced...instead of the entire panel.

you're looking @ 200-300$ for the inverter and 5-10$ a piece for the spacers.

you're looking @ around 500-600 $ for the part

A 6 flash error indicates a problem with the backlight. Your set is less than a year old and still in warranty, so you should contact Sony and arrange for a service call to get it repaired.

The light is flashing an error code to you telling you what the problem is with the set. Either refer to your handbook or go to the Sony website to find out what the error code means. Hope this helps.

I think this sounds like my problem (need to replace the projector lamp). However, when I hit the "on" button, my SXRD 50" blinks green for about a minute then starts blinking red. Can you confirm the bulb solution? I was very pleased with this sight when my fan malfunctioned. I got the fan in a matter of day's from Sony and it fixed that problem.
