MY FRIDGE IS NOT GETTING COLD AND MY FREEZER IS NOT FREEZING. THE LIGHTS GO ON WHEN I OPEN THE DOOR AND THERE AREN'T ANY STRANGE NOISES. I THINK I MIGHT NEED FREON (NOT SURE) HOW WOULD I KNOW AND IF SO HOW DO I ADD IT.
Same complaint. Appears to be "running", but noticed the groceries in the fridge were just cool and the freezer items were thawing. The ice maker was dripping water which should have been the first clue, but I still had to touch everything in the freezer just "to make sure". Called around to some appliance repair shops which charge an arm & a leg (and a extra pinkey toe for the weekend) - earliest some can come out is two weeks... ouch. Perhaps a minifridge is in our future until our three year old Kenmore side by side can be repaired. Any and all suggestions would be very helpful and much appreciated.
We have the same problem but our compressor is hot to the touch. I does not seem to be running (no vibration or humming noise) The fridge lights and fan are working but nothing is cold.
I have an admiral side by side. It is a couple years old. It stopped working today or possibly last night. The lights are on, I can hear and see the fan spinning in the back of the freezer and in the back of the fridge. It does not get cold though. I did trip the breaker 3 times last night running too many things at once. Not sure if that would have anything to do with it or not. Is there something I can try and take a look at to fix or should I just buy another fridge?
My problem is similar but not the same. My compressor is working overboard and the freezer is freezing up constantly. I'm thinking it's the thermostat but I'm all ears if you have any other ideas and solutions. Thank you Eddie
First check to see if your compressor is running at all. If your compressor is at room temperature you cold control is not supplying power to the compressor. Replace the control or locate the defrost timer and rotate the clutch head screw ( Normally black or Grey) and rotate it a small amount clock-wise. If the compressor then starts replace the defrost timer.
