My nextar wil not power up - Nextar Q3 GPS Receiver

nextar gps is stuck on the screen right after boot cannot navigate

buy a replacement power cord from Nextar

The battery may be bad but if unit has a lighter power cord it should still power with that connected (watch as most have a fuse in that lighter plug).

Link the Nextar GPS and a personal computer by using the USB cable provided with the purchase. Make sure the device and computer are powered up.

Proceed to follow the Map Update tutorial. NaviExtras will allow the user to store the updates on the computer until space is made on the GPS by deleting older files or countries or regions that are not used.

I have a nextar 14-bc and I was having similar problem and I found that the power in jack had a broken solder joint and when I thought it was charging it was not. I would not turn on until I discovered the broken solder joint inside on the power jack. I resoldered it and after it charged up it was up and working again. You might check on that.

If it says it can't find map data then your SD card is corrupted.

It's a fatal flaw in the WindowCE 5.0 operating system that was used for Nextar GPS builds. Basically, if you have a power glitch while it's reading your SD card (contains the maps) then your SD card get's corrupted.

Don't expect any help from Nextar. You will have to get the original data from another person's SD card with the exact same model
