Question about Refrigerators

1 Answer

I own 2 of the vs220 seal-a-meal units one of which worked ok with the bags that came in it and the second is a hit and miss unit. Both were purchased at walmart. I have tried to use the last one that i purchased one time to seal fish. That unit just won't vaccume the the bags down to well and I had someone try there hand at it who owns a really good one. My other unit is used to seal on sale meats but the bags that walmart sold me don't vaccume down very well before the unit goes into the sealing mode, it seals fine but is not vaccume packed. I know that things can happen but not two in a row. Thanks Bob Futch

I too bought my seal a meal at Walmart. I have gotten it to work twice. The main problem is it won't seal. I really think it has to do with the black seals....If I pull them up it sometimes will work. It is really frustrating. I would take it back but have mislaid my recept:(

Refrigeration

check to see that the compressor is working by turning there controller to off and then up. The motor should cut in and vibrate the cabinet and heat the back of the unit and cut out when turned off. IT may need a new capacitor for the motor and if that is outside the sealed unit OK you can do it but if inside it will need a compressor unit replaced.

Kenmore elite refrigerator is not cooling, but the freezer seems to be working fine.

Kenmore Elite refrigerators come in several styles, including units with a freezer at the top and units with freezers at the bottom. The top and bottom of the fridge work on different systems. Sometimes the freezer may function perfectly, while the fridge performs poorly. Most issues with the fridge cooling are due to incorrect settings or poor cleaning practices. Checking common problems with the refrigerator will help you diagnose the situation and keep expensive repairs to a minimum
1. Check that the Kenmore Elite refrigerator is plugged in. Inspect the circuit breaker of the home if the refrigerator is plugged in but not running.
2. Pull the unit out from the wall and vacuum the condenser coils at the back of the unit.
3. Turn the temperature control in the Kenmore Elite refrigerator to the "On" position.
4. Turn up the temperature on the temperature control, located inside the unit on the wall.
5. Check the seal along the door for signs of cracks or dryness. If it is damaged, lift up on the seal to expose the screws that hold it in place. Loosen the screws and pull the seal off. Place a new seal on the unit, starting in the corners and working your way around to insert the tabs into the Kenmore Elite fridge door.
6. Check the seal along the door for signs of cracks or dryness. If it is damaged, lift up on the seal to expose the screws that hold it in place. Loosen the screws and pull the seal off. Place a new seal on the unit, starting in the corners and working your way around to insert the tabs into the fridge door.
7. Move food away from the vents inside the Kenmore Elite refrigerator.

I hope i solve you problem.
Have a nice day : )

My refrigerator is about 5 years old and it has been refilled 3 times by an expert serviceman from godrej. It works only for about a month after each refill, then slowly stops cooling. I want to know what...

Hi,
As a servicer, I could not refill you unit in this state, rather would need to find the leak and repair it. It sounds like you have a sealed system leak if this depletes in a month. You should have the systems checked for leaks rather then just having it filled. If I filled your unit knowing it leaks its a Big fine for me, I would need to have an action of repair to fill your unit to hold you unit parts are available to repair correctly. You made want to get a second opinion on this problem. Think of a seal system like a can of soda, the system is fine if completely sealed.
The EPA does not allow a certified person to charge if knowing a leak is present or if the unit looses more the 5 percent charge in a 12 month period. So if your unit hold 6oz. it can only loose .03 of an ounce.
I would seek a second opinion to solve this issue.

Traulsen refrigerator drain pan sizzles as the hot water is being evaporated. what can absorb and/or safely deflect this hot water as it hits the pan?

The problem is not in your drain pan, the problem is why is your drain pan getting hot enough to sizzle water as it hits it?

Are there hot spots on the cabinet? That would be a sign that the condenser grill is not able to transfer heat out of the sealed unit compartment. Which could mean a dirty condenser grill or back panel. Are items stored behind the unit that is affecting air flow? Is the compressor fan working and pushing air across the condenser grill and compressor.

My fridge in my fridge freezer keeps freezing everything in it.

If the fridge side is frozen you have a door seal issue.
If the freezer side is frozen you have a defrost component issue.
Your post was not clear as to which side is frozen.
