people will say "clean under the bezel".
try it, but dont count on it.
a lot of posts state its a hardware problem.
if the unit is still under warrenty, tomtom will replace it.
if its not, (like mine, 3 weeks out of warrenty) im trying to find out if replacing the lcd screen will solve the problem, due to the fact that tomtom will offer you a whole $10 off of a new unit for "customer loyalty".
Jun 11, 2009- Like I said before,we tried to power it up,even with the power supply hooked up, didn't start.I searched your site and found this. It worked. I pluged the charger in for power, green light on now, hold down the right hand lower corner of the screen (the screen itself) and while holding the corner down then hold down the ON button. The person who submitted this also said that it would reset the tomtom to the original setup that it was delievered with. We lucked out, our data was still there and working. By the way our battery was way way down. I wish I remembered the person who gave this solution, because he really deserves a BIG THANK YOU, and your site also THANKS. We would of throwed the thing away. How many were throwned away? THANKS BOB
There is a reset under the connector to the cradel. It is a small hole. If you push a paper clip in it it will reset back. A soft reset that usally clears this type of issue. If not reload from Tom Tom Home software you can download from the Tom Tom website.
Before you keep resetting your tomtom I would intall a new battery. Call your closest "batteries plus store" or "radioshack store" and then try to reset it, it might be only the battery and nothing to do with the reseting.....
I did find out how to solve the problem. I can't remember exactly where I found the solution but I think it was on TOMTOM website. You have to connect to TOMTOM home and reinstall the application. I put the TOMTOM disc in the computer (which came with purchase) and reinstalled the program. Which I thought was weird as everything appeard to be fine with TOMTOM home). Anyway, it worked. Good luck.
