Is just one computer able to access the internet from anywhere in the house, or you can only access the internet from the one room?

Mirrors, thick walls, and metal objects can block internet signal from going into certain rooms. Make sure that you are in a good room for this.

It seems you are having issues with the router. As you've said your PC can detect other wireless networks except for wireless network that you're supposed to connect into. Try contacting the technical support team of the manufacturer of your router so that they can check it out, it might be a defective router.

Toshiba M35X-S311 laptop that wireless will work anywhere but not at the house, have a linksys router. Everybody else can come over and connect wirelessly to my router but when I turn my wireless button...

First You can not connected the net by Safemode.
Second, Use the wire, connect the Linksys to your computer, and if you are using another modem, set this first using same SSID and password.
Then remove the cable and set the wireless (Before That while cable is on see the wireless on linksys home page and access it. to get your key number or set it up.)
If you can not, try to see Cisco systems user guide.

Net gear was completely disconnected from computer. net gear WPN82r v 2 was inadvertently reset. dont have a password. any help

To bypass the wizards, connect the router via an Ethernet cable, log in from a DHCP enabled (IP & DNS) computer at
http://www.routerlogin.net/basicsetting.htm

User name is admin and the password is password, both in lower case letters.

Note that wireless connectivity is off by default. When you configure this router manually , remember to turn the wireless connectivity on.

Wndr 3300 net gear router wont work with hn 9000 hughes net modem

I went to the Hughes web site to check out the modem. They say it is also a router. I think you will have to disable the router abilities of your WNDR 3300 Net Gear Router.

Get into the Netgear setup by loging on to it.In its WAN setup select Static IP Address and set the Static IP Address to the same as the hughes modem, except for the last number which should be about 50 greater. IE: Hughes 192.168.12.1 and Netgear 192.168.12.55.

In the DHCP setup, disable the DHCP Server

In the Wireless setup, Give your network a name is SSID. You should also set up security to keep others off you internet connection with a WEP key.

I hope this helps.

Bright house modem and desktop computer, trying to hook up wireless net gear router for 2nd desktop to get internet? How do I configure the cables?

Connect the lan cable from the dsl modem into the first port on your netgear router ..
make sure your dsl modem is on PPPoE mode so that it autoconnects..
Now just connect to your wireless router via your pc interface..
*Do add a network key to your wireless network to avoid unwanted access
